Ordered and paid for a Mossberg shotgun for my son for his birthday on NOV 23rd 2023. I went to the store aware that I would have to pass a background check because I had done that while buying a pistol some years back. Back then there was no 3 day wait after the background check and I was able to take the pistol the same night. I was unaware of a 3 day wait and while I was there no one mentioned it to me as I inspected the gun and the serial number. I waited over an hour for the background check and finally had to leave. I was assured the check would continue after I left but I was never told about the 3 day wait. i came back 2 days later to pick the gun up and I was confused when the manager Paul said there was an additional wait since it was never mentioned to me. I was annoyed at that point and asked him why no one told me about the 3 day wait when I was there the first time on the previous Tuesday. I would not have waited over an hour for the background check had I known. Paul took exception to my question and said he didn't like my attitude. I was annoyed but did not lose my temper or yell at him. He then said he would cancel my order if I continued. I then turned to leave and then he called me back and said he was cancelling my order even when I was leaving. Needless to say he very unprofessional and rude and never tried to explain anything to me and to cancel the purchase after I was already leaving shows immaturity and a unfit temperament for a manager. I understand I was unaware of the law change from the time I last purchased a firearm but I don't buy guns anymore. As I had said it was a birthday present. Read moreWe traveled 10 hours and went an hour and a half out of our way to buy a Henry Golden Boy riffle.(that we had paid for online the night before and they pulled it at 9:15 when we received the notification via text) We bought it online and rushed from North Tennessee to the store on 3557 on Garden Ridge Way to be told by the uninterested clerk that we were too late. We asked for a manager who came and said they had to close the guns off an hour early per the feds which is a lie. Two other stores were selling guns all the way to closing time. Paul the Logistics manager who would not give me his last name said his boss Mr Miller said we could not pick the gun up. He said we would have to come back on Monday which would be an hour and half drive one way to pick up the present for our son. I had called earlier in the day while we were racing down her to be sure we would he able to pick it up. We arrived at 5:30 pm and left the store without the gun at 6:10pm. Paul was very dogmatic and uncaring of the situation and when we asked for a refund he was cold and calloused and dropped the computer pad and walked away when the refund had been processed. My husband is a retired police officer and the time Paul spent insuring we did not get the rifle we could have filled out the paper work and left. Our son doesn’t have his Christmas present and Academy Sports has lost a customer. Now we are sitting in traffic because we went over an hour out of the way just to be turned away. Oh and did I mention that they had put all of there guns away and stopped processing applications at 5 when they close at 6 on CHRISTMAS EVE and I called to verify that we could get it. Read moreVisit your store here in Orlando. We are given reimbursement for fitness equipment by our employer. I had already purchased from a competitor some equipment. Needed to purchase $300 more of fitness equipment for the new benefit year to add to my home gym. We visited the website and decided to go into our local store. However, entering your store was one of the most uncomfortable and infuriating experience that I have encountered. We were repeatedly ignored by staff and heavily watched by loss prevention. There was more staff than patrons in the store and not one time were we asked if we needed help in then fitness equipment section. However, what seemed like a woman in management watched us intensely as though we were thieves. We decided to leave and before we left I went back into the store to ask customer service about shipping and they were extremely rude and said they do not offer free shipping to the store. I left and decided I will never spend one dime in your store and with your brand. I came back to work Monday and informed my colleagues of my experience and advised them to not purchase at your store based on my experience. In this day of video recording and companies being exposed for lack of inclusion or biased profiling of certain customers, I would think you all should have diversity training or at the very least have your associates behave...
