Fredrick's Hallmark Shop — Attraction in Oshkosh

I usually shop at this Hallmark location once every year. My family bought me a Hallmark ornament every year of my life and I am continuing the tradition for my own daughter. This year's trip to this location was awful. I felt unwelcome and stressed out within 1 minute of walking in the door. I made the very obvious mistake of trying to open the ornament box. I was only trying to make sure it was in good condition. One of the women working there rushed over faster than a lightning bolt. She was visibly upset that I had attempted such a horrible feat. She was speaking to me in a near yelling tone as if we had already had an issue. She demanded I give her the box, which is fine. She told me she would open it up, and I let her, only to find that the ornament had a messed up bow, so I asked her to open another one, which very obviously irritated her! I realize that there are bad people that steal and that measures must be taken to reduce theft. I also understand that a theif can look like anyone so in essence everyone is a suspect. However, there was no sign posted and she could have just been nice about it! She was aggressive and accusatory. She made me feel tense, unwelcome. I would have loved to have shopped around and bought a bunch of cute stuff but after this interaction I no longer felt comfortable being there. For the record the check out girl was much nicer. She said she had only worked there 5 days. Apparently she wasn't jaded yet. Shame on this store for putting a big old damper...

This is such a lovely store. There's so much more than cards here. I brought my daughter here to buy a card and gift for her boyfriend after his cat died. The employees were super helpful. When we asked them for ideas they gathered all of cards for pet sympathy so my daughter could choose one. Then, they showed us a bunch of gifts that would go well with the card. They even gift wrapped for us. The store is filled with eclectic gifts. I don't think I would have found such perfect things for such an occasion...

The people that work there are very and helpful. It is really nice to be able to walk in the store, give the employee your name, and they go to the back room. They ask if you are readt to check out to ask if you are done shopping and they have no problem holding your bag , look around the store some more.
