We recently had a birthday party here for our 8 year old. This was a mixed age group including kids age 5-18 plus adults. We got the place to ourselves for the length of the party (YAY! We loved the privacy), and an area with tables and chairs set up. All of the kids had fun, and it was great to see the adults joining in. There was plenty of space- I even set up a cornhole game near our tables. The back area has Jenga, and that got some play, too. Most of the parents said they wanted to do this for their kid's bdays, lol. The games are all OPEN- so not stuck quarters, no tokens and no cards to swipe or tap. This made it easy for even the younger kids to play, and no investment if they move from game to game without finishing it. We took out our stuff, and staff sweeps, wipes things down and takes out the trash. You may bring cake and drinks (no alcohol). Some drinks and snacks are available for purchase. Cat is the main store contact. She was super helpful, and communicated with me throughout. She clearly wants you to have the best experience possible, and takes the time to check in both before and after the party.
No bathroom was available- people just ran into Nordstrom's. That was the only real negative, and not really the venue's fault as most stores in the mall do not have public restrooms. A few games were non-functioning or glitchy, which I feel is to be expected. These are classic/retro video games, so you know they need frequent repair and maintenance. There were plenty of games to go around. Traditional arcade games plus pinball and skeeball. My kids had a great time, and want to do another here...
Read moreI'll start out by saying I've been too 15+ "classic" arcades and barcades in the past 2 yrs and have been a collector and hobbyist for over 20. KingCade has a great selection of games and a burgeoning atmosphere/potential. However the place needs some TLC. Several machines had bad joysticks or inop buttons. Many marquee lights out. Several games weren't even on. 2 machines didn't even have the control panels latched down. The televisions around the place were barely visible with the terrible recorded shows. Half finished game centers and displays. Unfinished sheet rocked walls. On and on. I completely understand that money is tight and times have been tough but it's hard for me too understand how this is your business and you let this happen. A lot of simple, inexpensive fixes would GREATLY improve this place. Such potential but it just seems an after thought. With all that said, please give them a visit. There isn't many of these places left and they need...
Read moreWanted to like this place more. Concept sounded great as all-you-can-play upon admission. I made special trip, just to come here as out-of-town visitor.
They charged me full admission price ($10+), even though I arrived about an hour before closing.
Pinball is extra (which they tell you prior to entry). But each game is $1.
At least half of the older video games were frozen or controllers not functioning well. I understand games are older than me, but if this is their business, please keep everything up to par. There wasn't much value for $10.
Lady at front was very nice.
If the business model was to allow individual pay for play, I'll be back. Current format leaves me as...
