World Fresh Market: A Global Culinary Adventure in Overland Park.
Overland Park has a vibrant and growing food scene, and the recent arrival of World Fresh Market on Metcalf Ave. has significantly raised the bar. This isn't just another grocery store; it's a vibrant hub of international flavors, a true "United Nations of Grocery Stores" as I'd describe it, offering a unique and immersive shopping experience. From exotic spices to artisanal cheeses, fresh meats to delectable pastries, World Fresh Market caters to adventurous palates and those seeking a taste of home.
Accessibility is clearly a priority at World Fresh Market. The store boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, restroom, and seating, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the diverse offerings. They also accept a variety of payment methods, including credit cards, cash, and SNAP/EBT, making it accessible to a wide range of shoppers.
Stepping inside is like embarking on a culinary journey around the world. The store features a carefully curated selection of premium international products, with a strong emphasis on Latin American (Colombia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico), Indian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cuisine. The aisles are packed with intriguing ingredients, from hard-to-find spices and sauces to unique grains, beans, and canned goods. Whether you're looking for authentic mole paste from Mexico, fragrant Indian spices, or Middle Eastern delicacies, and sweets, you're sure to find it here.
The fresh food sections are equally impressive. The cheese and charcuterie selection is a true highlight, boasting an impressive variety of cheeses from around the globe, alongside high-quality deli meats and other accompaniments. It's a perfect place to pick up ingredients for a charcuterie board or a gourmet sandwich. The meat department is equally noteworthy, offering a wide selection of poultry, pork, beef, and fish, including both regular and Halal options. The quality of the meat is clearly a priority, and the displays are well-maintained and appealing.
Beyond the groceries, World Fresh Market offers several enticing prepared food options. The in-store ice cream parlor is a welcome treat, offering a refreshing break from shopping or a sweet ending to a meal. A coffee shop and two separate food stands offer made-to-order gyros and tacos, providing a quick and delicious meal option for shoppers on the go. These aren't your average grocery store food stands; the quality and authenticity of the food are evident, adding another layer to the overall experience.
The bakery section is another standout. The store-made pastries are simply divine, showcasing top-quality ingredients, meticulous preparation, and unique flavors. From flaky croissants, ultra delicious and daily made fruit tarts, "Mil Hojas", Baclava, rich cakes, and delicate cookies, there's something to satisfy every sweet tooth. These pastries aren't just an afterthought; they're clearly crafted with care and passion, reflecting the store's overall commitment to quality.
What truly sets World Fresh Market apart is its dedication to providing a complete and immersive cultural experience. It's not just about selling groceries; it's about introducing customers to new flavors, ingredients, and culinary traditions. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, often offering helpful suggestions and insights into the products. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, creating a truly enjoyable shopping experience.
In summary, World Fresh Market is a fantastic addition to Overland Park's culinary landscape. It's a one-stop shop for international groceries, fresh foods, prepared meals, and delectable pastries. The emphasis on quality, authenticity, and accessibility makes it a truly unique and valuable resource for the community. Whether you're an adventurous foodie, a home cook looking for unique ingredients, or simply someone who appreciates good food, World Fresh Market is definitely worth a visit. It's more than just a grocery store; it's a global culinary adventure waiting to...
Read moreUNBELIEVABLY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR! Attention WORLD FRESH OWNER/MANAGER! This is the first time in my life that I have to deal with this HUMILIATION! Since the day your store has been open, living over 1 hr away...I shop at this specific store at least 3-4 times a week. This shows how much support I give to local business owners. Just like the name of thr store, I agree you guys have fresh, quality food selections. Your produce staff is super nice and helpful. Your prices are great, basically I have ZERO complaints about anything regarding the store, BUT this 1-star review is specifically for today's incident. If I could do 0 star I would definitely do it. Remember, I never spend less than $50 each time at the store, most times it's always over $100 spent. I was chased to the door today after I had paid for my groceries! Today, specifically I spent $146.95 in your store! One of your middle-age male staff chased after me and my handicapped mother to the door to EMBARRASSED/HUMILIATED my mother and I in front of everyone saying I didn't pay so why did I grabbed a case of water! As far as I been told, when you spend over $100, you receive a free case of water. My cashier even told me to grab a $3 case of water when I leave since I spent over $100. Unless anything change, you need to update and retrained your employees with new implented policies. Proof is in the receipt attached, make sure you look carefully at the exact amount of $146.95 spent today at your store. I am very DISAPPOINTED in today's DISRESPECTFUL treatment at this store. You guys are a franchise of El Mercado Fresco, there are over 7 more stores out there that are much closer to my family and I, but we chose to support your store. I will guarantee you after today's HUMILIATION, I will pass this to ALL my friends and families to be careful and shop somewhere else where we can be treated with dignity and respect. Words by mouth is very powerful. Honestly, $3 is nothing to me, I can buy the ENTIRE pallet of water if I want to but since it's free I just accept it for my Furbabies/dogs to drink at home. My family and I only prefer spring water to consume. Please learn some respect and better customer service. It takes 1 person to ruin the entire store's reputation. I know the store owner is very nice and hopefully after this, please discipline your employee! I'm sure if it happens to my mother and I, pretty positive other customers have to deal with DISRESPECTFUL behavior from these employees before, too. Pretty sure, regardless of great prices, Customer Service is very important. I rather pay higher prices for better treatment. Good luck in losing...

I just got out of the store for less than 6$ for buying 1 green apple, 1 lemon, 1, orange, 2 carrots, 2 pairs, a small bunch of baby spinach. I am riddled with inflammation and health issues and know that I need this store so much. The prices are what's helping me heal my body pain with fresh produce.
April 28, 2025: Wow, I am shocked at how amazing this store is. I don't know if you can get this variety of fresh produce and other amazing foods and items at other stores. If you're looking for more nutrition and variety, you should definitely check this store out. If you are a foodie you should check it out. If you're adventurous you should check it out. If you love locally owned grocery places that you can shop instead of Walmart and Target, you should check it out! If you want some place to support with your business, and you want it to be a locally owned and family run business, this is the place. It's very clean upscale with low prices like Walmart but let me tell you, it is so much more than Walmart. The variety. The nutrition, the environment. It's definitely big. I used to shop here back when it was a Walmart neighborhood store and for some reason that store seemed really small but now that Walmart moved out and World Fresh Market moved in, it feels and looks SO MUCH bigger and has SO much more variety than any grocery store I've ever been to. It's better than Whole Foods if you ask me. Haha sorry. I'm a little opinionated but hey... We are all opinionated and that's beautiful and wonderful that we are because everyone has different tastes and different likes in what they want to eat. So, check this store out. It's amazing. You'll find something you'll like...
