Very good food, cozy atmosphere. We ordered the Chicken Cashmere and Shrimp Bhuni .... both sooooo good. Tasted fresh and obviously made with love ;) Naan was hot and inviting. I am sensitive to too much spice, we ordered regular spice and it was just the right amount (the bhuni was more on the spicy side than the cashmere). I have probably passed by this place hundreds of times on Metcalf and had no idea it was there, so glad I do know now. A few cons: 1-We ordered the chicken tikka as an app.... also tasted very very good, but the menu said 8.50 and they charged us 13.50 " because it is dinner;" the menu did not make a price distinction at all, it just said 8.50 and they wouldn't change it when we asked. 2- Service was not quite spot on, we had to wait after the food came out and ask for the raita we ordered with the meal and it was just generally awkward with 3 different servers (when we were 1 of 3 tables there the entire time). All in all...will definitely be back. Loved the shrimp bhuni.... but after tasting the cashmere, oh my.... there is nothing quite like it and they made it perfectly. I was surprised that this place was not busier, it seems to fit the bill for the slightly-off the beaten track place that word-of-mouth has worked its magic for -as their food speaks for itself, definitely worth it! If you haven't been there, you won't be...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended by one of our acquaintances. We went there with the expectation that lunch time will be perfect to try many different dishes but the restaurant was totally empty. As we sat down, we noticed that 2 tables were not cleaned after the customers dined. I don't know if they left right before we came in or if they ate in the morning. We were there for almost an hour and no one cleaned those tables within that time. I find this unhygienic.
The food is usual, nothing extraordinary. I did see people calling in and taking take outs and it makes sense. If we had also taken a to-go then I wouldn't be staring at those uncleaned tables all the time. Makes me wonder though, if the dining room is so unclean then what's going on in the kitchen.
I had high expectations from the mughlai paratha but it seemed like readymade chicken patty stuffed in a paratha. It didn't fulfill my expectations.
Sweets or desserts are always served at the end of the meal, unless you are ordering a thali. At many restaurants, the servers ask you before serving any cold sweets beforehand. We ordered Kulfi and they brought it out with our main course. By the time we were ready for our dessert, it had all melted.
I think this place is ok for a take out definitely not...
Read moreI had two visits to this restaurant, and both were extremely disappointing.
First visit: The staff was lazy, and the service was terrible. They brought the wrong items without any apology, and even though rice is supposed to come with each entrée, they sneakily didn’t include it, hoping I wouldn’t notice. I had to ask multiple times for the missing rice. When I asked for the receipt, it took 30 minutes to get it, and in the meantime, the staff was more interested in chatting with each other than serving customers. The owner (who was a lady) was rude and unprofessional, adding to the negative experience.
Second visit: Things didn’t improve. I ordered Malai Kofta, and all I got was sauce—no kofta. When I asked about it, they claimed I had asked only for sauce, which was absolutely not the case. They promised to bring the kofta in a few minutes, but it never arrived. After we finished our meal, I asked them to remove it from the bill, but they didn’t. On top of that, once again, we only got rice for one of the three entrées and had to ask for the rest. No apologies, no smiles, just stubbornness and lazy service. They even tried to sneak the missing kofta into the bill.
Overall, terrible service, rude attitude, and shady practices. I won’t be...
