Avent Park — Attraction in Oxford

Located on Park Drive, it includes four recently renovated lighted tennis courts, a picnic pavilion, walking trail, baseball field, playground and quiet areas. Avent Park has everything you could expect in a well-appointed city park. Secluded and in one of the more BACK to Nature areas of the City of Oxford MS this is a MUST DO for a day out with the babies; FuR or otherwise!!! There are lots of different things for kids to do and play on. 2 separate play areas. One for small kids up thru 3, and another for 4 and over. Avent Park has walking trails, a small butterfly Garden, and a Pavilion for picnicking. Next to the Park are a couple of Tennis Courts. Although not as large as Lamar Park, it is, still, a pleasant place to visit. Avent Park offers a perfect place for a family or an individual to spend a morning, afternoon or early evening. Two playgrounds, a pavilion, four tennis courts and a nature trail offer a lot of variation for those who live in the Oxford and Lafayette County area or those who are visiting from another part of the state, country or world!!! I won the most unusual pet prize in the City of Oxford Mississippi pet contest in 1961 with my two water beetles in a jar full of creek water, and my story about my PETS appeared in the Oxford eagle shortly after the conclusion of the contest!!! I was a very proud little boy and will always cherish Avent Park Oxford Mississippi for that and MANY other...

I have always loved this park. Today changed my mind. There was a community event on Saturday the 17th. When I let my 9 year old daughter play at the older castle. Went over to the one for the toddlers with my 5 year old. Within 7 minutes of being there, my 9 year old comes to me to say that the kids said they would not play with her because she was not the same color as them. If we want things to change allowing our children to treat others like this isn’t the way. I don’t raise my babies this way...

We went to the park for a picnic to our Disgust the picnic tables under the pavilion were filthy we couldn't set down because they were filthy we left Without eating .Whoever is supposed to be keeping the tables clean isn't doing it they look as if the had not seen a cleaning in months is you plan on going for a picnic you better take cleaner for the tables its sad as nice as the park is...
