As a former Oxford resident who likes to check in on what's happening around town from time to time, I am astounded at the blatant bias and pettiness in the most recent article about the LHS baseball team's loss of the State championship series. WHO writes an opening line like this... "Lafayette needed one more win to bring home its first state baseball title in 18 years and could not manage to do so with two chances." Do you forget that those boys gave their all, and are KIDS who need encouragement from their community when they return heartbroken over the losses? There are about a thousand other ways to get the point across without being petty. A third grader could have written a better, non biased...

They do cover important events in Mississippi and a few from the US, but the focus is Oxford and that is what you'll get. It's important to remember that it's a small paper and the office workers wear many hats. Like most things in the South, you're best bet is to get off the couch and head down to the Eagle office and meet Belinda (Circulation manager). She'll hook you right up and then you can mosey around the corner to the great restaurants on the Square. If you're looking for the Boston Globe or the NYT or don't have the patience to slow down, you may think about going back there...
