This was my 3rd time eating at Toyo in Oxford, Mississippi, and my first 2 experiences were great. The food has been excellent in the past, but this time was drastically different. To begin, my friend and Iās food came out completely wrong the first go around. I ordered the hibachi steak dinner with NO vegetables, and it came with vegetables. My friend ordered the hibachi steak and chicken dinner and they gave her shrimp. They took it back, and we received what we originally ordered. Within the first bite, we both looked at each other and asked if each other's steak was cold and we both said āyes.ā I began cutting my steak in half because the pieces were too big, and quickly realized it was way undercooked. I always order āmedium rare,ā but the steak almost appeared purple in color. The manager was actually the one who brought us out the wrong food the first time and said, āwow this was totally wrongā as he walked away. I asked to speak with the manager and the same guy came back, and I explained the problem to him. He was not very apologetic, and I was carrying the whole conversation to try and reach a solution. He offered a discount on our meals, and I was baffled when I received the tab and saw 15% off, which was a little over $3.00 taken off of my total. In all, I spent $24.05 without tip on a meal that I didn't even eat. I expressed my concerns, and the manager did not address the situation like I had hoped. I am also a college student, so I only treat myself to these types of expensive dinners on occasion, so the fact I wasted that much money on a meal that I didn't eat is very disappointing. Overall, the issue was not handled appropriately, and I did not appreciate how I was treated with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently ate at Toyo and let me just say that their sushi is not good. The tuna was bad and the avocado was browning. The noodles were fine, kind of soggy, but our waitress was nice. After leaving that night, I told myself that I would never eat here again. Three days later, my cousin had a craving for those specific noodles. She called to make the order and this is how the conversation went. My cousin: Hey, can I do a pick up order for Yaki Udon. Can you make sure it has no mushrooms, onions, and carrots? Worker: Ummā¦I donāt think it has vegetables in it. My cousin: Yes it does, Iāve eaten it before. Worker: Do you want me to just put no veggies? My cousin: No because I want the cabbage and other veggies. I just donāt want onions, mushrooms, and carrots. Worker: Well what veggies do you want? My cousin: I want everything but mushrooms, carrots and onions. Fast forward, I went to pick up the food, expecting they listened to my cousinās wishes, and when we got home we had everything in it that we did not want. This dish was not only for her but for her children. We called complaining, and they said that they could make it again, but we would have to switch it out. By this time, it was already 10:00 p.m, and we did not want to have to leave and waste gas after their mistake. So, we called and asked for a refund instead, and they continued to say we had to drive to their restaurant and return the dish if we wanted a refund. All in all, I think Toyo not only has bad food, but terrible customer service. It was obvious that they did not care about making their customerās happy, but rather making money. I would highly recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToyo is a very clean, atmospheric place! I have been here several times and the service has always been great. Staff and management are very friendly and love to make customers smile. Tonight we went here for my sisterās 13th birthday. We had a server (I think he said his name was Donny? I couldnāt hear very well) who made us all laugh with his jokes. He cooked our food so well! My sisterās friend told the manager it was her birthday and they brought her out some cake and ice cream! The manager is such a sweetheart, flitting by each table often to refill drinks and ask us how we were doing. We were well taken care of. The only minor complaint I have is that the check took a while to get to our table. Honestly, it wasnāt a big deal to me at all, as I was in no hurry, but I could tell a few customers in the other group were becoming impatient. I could tell it was getting busy as we were about to leave, so thatās probably why it took a while. Despite that tiny complaint, I had a great time! My sister always insists that we eat here for her birthday because she loves the place so much. Thanks Toyo!
TLDR: Go to Toyo for great food and...
