The man who runs this store is rude, prejudiced, and disrespectful. I visited this store today for the first time with my 5 month old son in his stroller. There is very little space, making it next to impossible to navigate a stroller through the store. Towards the back, I found a New York Giants baby accessory set. Interested in buying it, I picked it up and attempted to continue down the narrow aisle pushing the stroller with one hand with the box in the other. Needless to say that didn't work so well. I almost knocked down a stack of framed jerseys. So to avoid breaking anything I placed the box in my stroller basket. Nothing was covering it And it was easily seen. It was in no way concealed. Halfway down the next aisle I started eating a cracker and the man came up to me asking if i needed anything and to not eat in the store. He wasn't outright rude but wasn't exactly polite about it either. I said No problem and apologised and that I was ok and browsing. I kept making my way down the aisle a few more feet and realized I wouldn't be able to fit through that way and went to back up to go back around the way I came. He rushed up to me and told me No I I have to go out that way and grabbed my son's stroller and unsuccessfully tried to get it through himself. I stood there shocked for a minute that he had just grabbed my son's stroller and essentially pushed me out of the way. I forced out a polite "Thank you for trying" and went back the way I came. On the way I decided not to give this man my money and put the box back where I got it. About to exit I told him to have a nice day and tried to leave. He jumped in front of me and roughly grabbed the front of my son's stroller and told me the police were on the way to arrest me for shoplifting! Again I was shocked at the nerve of this guy! I asked what I was stealing. He pointed to my stroller basket and saw there was nothing there and said I must have put it back but still wouldn't let me leave. The mall security arrived and he told him I tried to steal something and when I tried to explain to the security officer what really happened he got very rude and said if I dont stop he would call Paramus police and get DYFS involved. At this point I'm just like What the heck is going on here??? Finally a female security officer came and asked me what happened. I told her and she told me to just wait a minute and asked her colleague to talk to her in the ball outside the store. A few minutes later they came back and the male security officer told me not to shop here again and that I could go. I said that was absolutely not a problem and left. A man like that shouldn't even have a store and I have no problem never spending my money there and letting everyone else know what kind of person he is so they don't make the mistake of putting money in his pocket either. I'm honestly still shocked at the fact he could just grab my son's stroller like that!! Don't fund his ignorance....
Read moreI stopped by specifically because of all the bad reviews this guy has gotten here on Google, curious to have the âBuddyâ customer experience for myself.
Context: I work for MLB, Iâm a professional sports photographer and own a lot of jerseys in general
I walked in and Buddy â who has been colorfully described by other reviews here over the years â immediately confronted me because I was holding a cup from Chick-fil-A; he told me I couldnât enter with it. Not an open container either, and this guy has a store inside a mall that is full of places that sell food and drinks that customers routinely walk around with. As advertised, he became more obnoxious, insulting and rude as our conversation went on. He was behind the counter on his phone and he was still chatting on his phone when I left.
Curious to see the merch though, I put the drink down and browsed the store â thereâs a nice selection of random jerseys, helmets, autographed items, photos, etc but it lacked stock in current player jerseys. For example, I found only one unsigned New York Rangers jersey in the whole store and it was probably 7+ years old and had no price tag. I found some bootleg knockoff Rangers jerseys in the back that were likely leftovers from an autograph signing event ⊠selling unlicensed fake jerseys (no manufacturer labels, logos, tags, cheap materials) is a bad look for a place like this.
The only current-player jerseys I saw were some Aaron Judge Yankees jerseys for $160 â the same ones are currently $134.99 online via the MLB Shop. The autographed framed photos for sale here are the exact ones sold online for less by Fanatics. You can also visit MLBâs flagship store in New York and not get yelled at.
The person I was shopping with described Buddy to me as âobnoxiousâ and said âI wouldnât want to give him my money.â Other reviews on Google echo the same opinions and they date back nearly 10 years and yet this guy just doesnât care...
Read moreI am completely flabbergasted at all of the negative reviews regarding Buddy's Sports Corner. It is obvious that there are people who aren't able to appreciate the success of others. I have been a customer at Buddy's Sports' Corner for several years, and never, have I experienced any of the negativity that the people on here are "claiming." Buddy and his associates have treated me, and others that I have told about the business, with complete respect and nothing less. Buddy works with his customers and considers their budget, item, or any other concern about what they are purchasing. Buddy meets his customers more than halfway and is extremely fair when it comes to pricing. Additionally, all of his merchandise is authentic, unlike some online companies who say that their merchandise is authenticated. I too agree, that some of these attacks are the epitome of bullying. I find it very sad that in 2018, we still have not ceased to belittle others just for the sake of feeling good about the suffering of someone else. Buddy has been successful in business for over 40 years; it is highly unlikely that someone who is successful for this long is any of the negative things that are being said on here. I urge you to disregard all of the negative comments here and to visit the store and formulate your own opinion about Buddy's...
