The wait time even with it being a new business is ridiculous!!! I believe that research was not ascertained in order to smoothly run this type of Bakery. The issue for me is no seating and I understand it’s a small bakery, but if it’s gonna be a small bakery, the problem is is that she’s serving a multitude of baked items in addition to drinks, coffees, etc. and there’s no seating to wait for said drinks. So with that said people are waiting around for drinks inside & there is no room to wait.
I have increased my 3 ⭐️ to a 4 bcus her products have gotten a lot better since opening. But some of the problems that I saw when it first opened are still occurring. This is around my 4th visit. I was last there yesterday, Saturday, August 6th. The crowd inside the bakery is horrendous. I think that the seating that she has in there while it’s still large furniture, I believe that she should have a note indicating no eating in the premises policy So the people that are waiting, can at least be sitting for their items and not having people that ordered 20 to 30 minutes ago and still sitting around eating and conversing. The Space is way too small for people to be congregating in there eating and conversing like it’s a big gigantic coffee shop because it’s far from it My second complaint, which is something new is her drinks. I ordered a strawberry banana Matcha & the size of the drink seem like it comes in one size which is probably I don’t know 8 ounce 10 ounce. I’m not sure what size it is but it’s pretty much very similar to a Starbucks tall drink. not a grande but a tall size. And she’s charging $9 for that and they fill it with ice so the next time I go, I’m gonna tell them to give me half the ice in the cup because I’m losing a lot of drink because they fill the ice to the top and she’s making more money on it because theyre using less product/drink. But again its $9.00. So for me, the main complaint is the space, people are all on top of each other, bumping into each other because she’s letting patrons sit there and eat and drink for 20 to 30 minutes so if you have people that are eating in there, then new people that are standing in line to order & they have to stand around in the shop to wait for your order and drinks so we’re all on top of each other and bumping into each other. It is so awkward and so chaotic in her Bakery I’m serious.
I’ve visited other small bakeries; for example, fat & flour , sweet red peach, etc. Sweet red peach, which is also in Pasadena and also Inglewood, which I’ve visited multitude of time doesn’t have a barista making coffee drinks so while their line is long as well the line moves much faster because patrons go in order what they want and packing is being done when they’re ordering they pay they’re out no more than five minutes. So this type of Bakery doesn’t need seating because it’s literally grab and go. Based on me following Ashley for a year, plus and I’ve ordered several online cookie orders. She also said That her brick and mortar was going to be a grab and go type of Bakery allegedly. But serving me to order items with no seating is detrimental to me Because the patrons have nowhere to sit. People are literally sitting and eating for 30 minutes while that seating should be for waiting customers. So customers that are waiting three hours for a bad ash Bakery I have no desire to wait three hours for baked goods because the set up is entirely wrong in my opinion. There should’ve been a separate barista/coffee bar where people can order over there pay for that and there should’ve been a separate bakery or bake goods counter where you can grab...
Read moreThe strawberry tres leches is a MUST! It’s perfect and refreshing and balanced.
The regular cinnamon roll was a home run. Simply a perfectly classic cinnamon roll, soft, sweet and balanced.
The match cinnamon roll is expert level. The ceremonial grade matcha really makes the flavor come through. No food coloring, no gimmicks. Medium low sweetness. This is for real matcha lovers. Everyone will enjoy the first two layers but the inner layers are straight matcha and cinnamon. This masterpiece is for a mature palate.
The inside of the bakery is beautiful with marble decor and plush couches. There are 2 seats in front at the window and a bit of outdoor seating. Most people are getting their food and leaving. The people sitting on the couches are mostly waiting to get their order and leave.
I pulled up around 9:30am on a Saturday and the line was to the door. There were about 10 people in line before me and it took about 10 minutes to get to the front and only 5 minutes to get my goodies.
Congratulations Ash!
If they were open on Sundays I would have gone back the next day for another tres leches and a beverage. Yummy high-quality treat.
UPDATE!
Came back with my Fiancé. We got the carrot cake, chocolate chip cookie, peanut butter cookie, strawberry matcha, strawberry banana matcha, strawberry tree leches, and a cinnamon roll. Everything was so delicious and balanced. Not too sweet. Chocolate chip cookie was perfect. Cinnamon roll is still a home run. Carrot cake was my Fiancé’s favorite. The matcha is super artisan, the purées taste so fresh. We spent $55 including tip for 7 items. So that’s under $8 each. We will continue to come back. 💕
We arrived in between rushes and actually sat down to enjoy our treats on the couches. Happy to see this place remains busy!
UPDATE AGAIN!
The chocolate chip cookie stole my heart. 🍪So yummy! It is now tied with the strawberry tres leches as my favorite.
Also, I walked in on a Thursday at 3:58 right before they closed at 4pm. No line, no wait. And they threw in some extra goodies in my order. 🥰 Lifelong...
Read moreI have been having Badash Bakes on my list for awhile, just that it’s tad far away. Knowing they had a collab this week serving Matcha Blondies, I just couldn’t make any more excuse to push it down my to-go list. As expected, weekend and it’s the last day of the collab, made it perfect reason to see long waiting line. Unfortunately they also didn’t do online pre-order on the day (big frowned).
The bakery took place at Pasadena’s center of crowd, which was also the arrays of some other popular spots to dine. It’s super cute from the outside, looking like classic elegant French cafe. Going inside at its peak hour was quite overwhelming though as it’s packed with people trying to find spots to stand LOL.
Order placement was swift enough considering how busy it was. It might not be a perfect sit down space with that condition and you could indeed see most people order for to-go. All the attendants were so cheerful and welcoming, delivering that positive vibes to shoo away any irritation from the long wait.
Besides the Matcha Blondies which brought me there, I was trying to go for the house ‘regulars’ as well to make my drive worthy. Torn between the cinnamon roll and the cookie, I just asked for the attendant’s reco and she told me to opt for the latter, also further convincing me as I picked the Toffee Chocolate Chip cookie saying it’s her fave.
Well, needless to say much, the picture of the Matcha Blondies could tell you how fudgy and rich it was, worth every single calorie I spent on it. The matcha flavor stood out as strong as the color could tell you, with impeccable balance between sweet and pleasing bitter hint. I would highly pitch for keeping it permanently (pretty please)!
As for the cookie, if you’re thin and chewy cookie gang, I could see you loving it. It’s a matter of preference, but I’m still within the boat of thick gooey one. Taste wise it’s pretty decent with generous mix-ins. They did offer much more flavors to try.
Would come back for their cinnamon rolls or the matcha drinks...
