This serene park has terraces of plants and dramatic rock sculptures, creating almost an ampitheater-like experience. The park is close enough to skyscrapers that you can feel like you're really in the middle of the city if you face them. If you face away, it's like you're in a big garden in a quiet neighborhood. It's just a nice place to sit or walk through. There isn't a playground here but there are some within a 10-minute walk: Roberto Clemente Playground, Von Colln Playground, Winter Street Greenway, Sister Cities Park. There isn't a restroom here, but the nearest public one is in the library. A 24-hour option is the Sheraton hotel nearby — the ground floor and two conference floors above all...

This is a well preserved pocket park located in Fairmount at 19th Street and Hamilton Street. It sits on the site of Baldwin Locomotive Works. My favorite feature of the park is it's variety of trees which are all identified with plaques or plates. It has several benches to people to chill out on or to have a social gathering. It's near Philadelphia Community College and has a great view of Center City's building skyline. In the center is a large mound surrounded by flowers and natural plants. The grass is maintained and it's a great spot for doggie walking. Plenty of...

Great little park in the middle of the city, remember it is a city park though and the rats are not shy about running to and from the garbage cans. Spent maybe forty five minutes there eating a quick lunch and people watching. What I wound up doing was watching at least seven or eight rats run here and there, annoying dogs and terrifying those people not prepared to see them pop out and say hi. Consider yourself warned and try to enjoy the otherwise...

A great nature oasis within the city. I love this park, it is only a few blocks from where I work and it offers a touch of nature. There are benches to relax on, a path that goes around the park and separated off into little paths to the the streets, and plenty of plants, flowers, and rock structures to gaze upon. The area is clean, and people mind themselves as they enjoy the area. I offer the view from one of the installed benches in my photograph.

Discovered this hidden gem doing a Love your Park scavenger hunt. It offers sweeping views of the Philly skyline, and is a short walk from CCP and the Art Museum area. I would bring out of town visitors here for the view and history. There are terraced gardens with stone sculptures folded into the landscape. It is dog-friendly and has a shady area with benches for relaxing. The park turns 30 in 2021.
