Menchie's Frozen Yogurt — Attraction in Philadelphia

I will never again visit this menchies location after what my family and I experienced yesterday. Yesterday (July 4th) was $5 fill your cup day at this location. One of us filled our cup to 31oz and everything was good. A few minutes after we sat down a couple walked in and we see the guy filled his cup up even higher. He took his cup to the counter and put it on the scale to pay for it and it came in at 41oz. Everyone in the store was amazed and impressed, so much so that the girls working behind the counter told him to take a photo and post it on their Facebook page. They even grabbed the owner because they never saw anything like it. That's where things went down hill. The owner saw it and accused the guy of stealing and that he was going to go out of business because of how much was in his cup. He took the cup and told him to leave until my family said something. The owner put it down and the guy paid for it. He then proceeded to go sit down and eat. The owner kept going on about how he was going to be put out of business because of this and how because of this he was going to stop doing these events. He even said to his staff " you should know better". It doesn't say anything anywhere about a limit as to how much someone can get.

This was an embarrassing situation for everyone especially the guy who purchased the yogurt. He finished all of it too, so he wasn't wasting anything! We were there for about 20 minutes after that and the owner stood there watching everyone to make sure they didn't "steal from him". How uncomfortable is it when you are buying something and the owner is standing there with his eyes glued to you? I guess his business isn't doing too well if he has to make a scene and stand over everyone because of this. Do yourself a favor and go around the corner to toppers. We will be telling everyone we know.

We used to love this place, but because of the staff we will never return. I spoke to Brielle and told her I had recently become lactose intolerant and I was interested in trying some dairy free options. She told me what the 3 dairy free options were then turned away. I figured there were no free samples because there were no sample cups out like the used to have, and the sales person that I spoke to didn't offer me anything. I put pineapple and mango in my cup but the mango looked like it had a weird consistency. I tried a little bit and it tasted funky so I asked the girl frumpy girl with the long brown hair behind the counter if I could get a new cup and she said "no, we don't throw out the frozen yogurt". Another employee who was sweeping the floor overheard and asked how many flavors I got and I said 2 and she replied with "there's nothing we can do since you got more then one flavor. I find this experience completely ridiculous. Afterwards I asked if the do free samples and the girl said yes, but you have to ask for a sample cup. This is horrible customer service. Any other ice cream shop would have offered, especially considering upon entering the store I made it a point to tell the employee I had recently gone dairy free and was looking for some alternatives. Menchie's is hands down one of my favorite places for frozen ice cream! Every time I go, I am struck by the quality of the ice cream and the variety of flavors. The staff is always friendly and helpful, ready to recommend the newest flavors or help you create the perfect combination. The environment is clean, welcoming and perfect for a sweet break. I also really like the possibility to choose between different options of frozen yogurt (from the lightest ones to the creamiest ones), and the range of toppings is endless! From fresh fruit, to crunchy biscuits, to hot chocolate that you can add for an extra touch. Plus, the self-service payment system makes everything super quick and convenient.
