So far I have seen a total of 2 shows at this theatre. The first was Close Your Legs, Honey and the other was Pillow Talk. These shows were vastly different from each other, but both had me laughing out loud and feeling disappointed once the show had ended (because I wanted more). The crowd, the employees, the area, and the general welcoming feel of the theatre makes one feel right at home. I took my husband there both times and he also loved it as much as I did. I look forward to going to this theatre often and just enjoying talented people sharing their talent with the rest of the world.
If I had to say a negative it would be that finding the actual performers on social media is harder than I would expect. The performers' social media handles should be in the information about the show so people can tell them that they're doing an...
Read moreCareful signing up for classes here. If you book a role or for any reason have to miss classes, they offer no flexibility whatsoever. I needed to opt out of an 8 week summer session, and wanted to take the fall session instead but they will apply 0% of what you paid. If you have to miss classes they don't allow make-ups and you can't apply your payment toward another session even if your session hasn't begun. The owner babbled on about their refund policy, but I wasn't asking for a refund of a single dollar - just to apply my payment to a later session. Even if these are the best classes in Philadelphia (highly doubt that), their customer service is non-existent. UPDATE: they did end up refunding my payment, but the interaction soured me and I won't sign up for another session. I've changed it to 3 stars, but the information I...
Read moreTook a free 2-hour introductory class in late 2013 with my girlfriend and was immediately hooked. Our 101 class was one of the last to perform in the Shubin and I thought we had all progressed immensely. We followed that with 201, and 301 and plugged holes with workshops and practice sessions. There was always something going on, whether that means learning or seeing shows. And the community is extremely supportive! On top of that, when you're enrolled, you get into all shows for free. All I know is that I've gone and seen other improv performances by teams that had been together for some time, and the show that my 101 class put on was better than most of them. PHIT knows...
