To date, I have purchased 11 tickets to the byob Philly your. That’s how good it is. I’ve been once with my significant other, once with my 3 kids, and once with my kids and my father. Additionally, I’ve also done one of the night tours in October. I think it was something like scary stories? In short, I’ve spent a ton of money on these tours because they are well worth the price. It’s informative and funny. There’s a nice balance to it and the atmosphere is fun. I also appreciate that the tour guide is the owner. It’s great to support a small business and he feels invested in a way that you do not get with the big corporate companies. While the tour is byob it’s still family friendly. You get to see all the Philly sights. There are spots you can get off and walk around, take pictures. My personal favorite is the Rocky portion of the tour. Things to know, the benches you sit on are hard wooden benches and there’s not a ton of room. It can at times be a little uncomfortable if you’re a bigger person. There’s a few stops where you can buy things but they only take cash or only take cards, so come prepared. There’s a lot of parking around the Betsy Ross house but the metered parking often has a 2 hour limit. So be careful. I have used it and never gotten a ticket but it would def suck to have that happen. There’s a small convenience store not too far from the Betsy Ross house you can make some last minute purchases from if needed. Lastly, I appreciate that he is a former teacher who has several programs for youth in the city. I’m a social worker at a high school in Newark NJ. I can tell you first hand those types of programs mean the world to kids! It is a wonderful experience and I highly...
Read moreI’m giving it 5 stars because it was a great experience but the set up for the tour was really shaky.
The good: our driver and musician were top notch. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our musician Ashton had such a wonderful voice, a great sense of humor, and made us all fell so welcomed. Our driver Chris was phenomenal and was so safe with us. Due to space, we ended up sitting on folding chairs in the back and even with the unsecured chairs we were completely safe.
The questionable: We arrived 30 minutes before the tour and were told we couldn’t be in the trolley area until it was our time/group’s turn and we’d be notified - we weren’t notified. We took ourselves to the “trolley area” of the bar and heard some people get reprimanded for being in the area early. We were told we would also be informed when it was our time to board - no one came by. 30 minutes after our departure time was scheduled someone came through and said would should board and when we did - the bus was already full. Like I mentioned earlier, we sat on folding chairs in the bus which isn’t the safest. It was so full that some people didn’t even get to go on the trip with us which might have been avoided if we had been informed when others were boarding. The communication at the beginning left a lot to be desired. All of this aside, it really does deserve 5 stars because it was such a...
Read moreTaking the trolley was the highlight of our trip to Philadelphia. From the moment we stepped aboard, we felt like we had been transported back in time. The trolley was beautifully restored with polished wood interiors, brass details, and large windows that offered stunning views of the city. Our guide was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and extremely entertaining. The driver and our guide Tim shared fascinating tidbits about the local history and landmarks we passed. It wasn’t just a ride- it was a rolling tour through the heart of the city. The route was scenic and well paced, winding through charming neighborhoods, bustling downtown streets, and scenic architecture. There were plenty of opportunities to hop on and off, making it a convenient way to explore without worrying about parking or traffic. Whether you’re a tourist or a local looking to rediscover your city, I highly recommend hopping on board. It’s nostalgic, educational, and just plain fun. Can’t wait to ride again! ...
