Grossman Furniture — Local services in Philadelphia

I can't even begin to express how terrible it has been to work with them. We ordered a couch and recliner in January to have when I gave birth at the beginning of June and were told 14 weeks until delivery, which was longer than usual due to COVID but going with an American manufacturer would not introduce some of the delays that using one overseas would. It's September and we still don't have either. We only received proactive notifications the week they were supposed to arrive when we were told it would be another three month wait. It has been far more than that additional three months. They did provide a temporary recliner from their stock after I gave birth, but it was not a rocker which I selected as a required function of what we ordered because that's necessary for babies. We do not receive updates unless we ask, despite having asked for regular updates to be provided. When we call for updates we are frequently told "I'll check on that and get back to you" and then do not receive a call back. The recliner has theoretically been at their warehouse for a month and no attempt has been made to deliver it and we're now told the couch will ship mid/late September. I highly doubt I'll ever see either item. I'm not naive and I realize that COVID has drastically changed the supply chain which is not within their control, but for what we paid I expected exceptional customer service and have received some of the worst I've ever experienced, which has resulted in making my maternity leave with my newborn far more physically difficult than it needed to be and which I could have made alternative arrangements for if we had received any sort of regular communication. I cannot in any way...

My husband and I were couch shopping for a while and stumbled on Grossman's by accident. What stood out immediately was the great customer service (we worked with AJ). At other stores we visited we had a variety of mediocre and bad experiences: being ignored, treated impatiently and condescendingly as though we were wasting the salesperson's time and didn't know what we were doing, or very aggressive and pushy sales tactics.

AJ was a great listener- he was very respectful of my budget and style interests, and showed me many great options that proved he really took the time to understand what I wanted. I had to come back to finalize the choices with my husband and he spent overall probably about 3 or 4 hours on us, helping us with fabric options and the design. We never felt rushed or pressured and he was really helpful in making choices that fit with our lifestyle and matched our paint colors.

The couch was delivered in the timeline we received, even though our original fabric choice was discontinued (we like the second choice better, actually). It looks great and feels great; I was not expecting to get such a quality custom couch for such a reasonable price, some since we wanted an extra long couch that was not a sectional. We will be back to Grossman and recommended it to friends.

One suggestion to the owners might be to consider adding more variety to the display furniture at ground level. I almost didn't come in because it seemed very traditional from what I could see in the window as I walked by. Mixing in more modern designs, or on trend colors might attract more young people who are in the area and looking at surrounding...

I've used Grossman Furniture several times now. First time approx. 8 years ago when I bought a really nice leather couch. I was able to hand select the leather grade/color and also the design of the couch and it turned out to be cheaper than some of the other mainstream furniture stores! A few years later, I returned to Grossman Furniture to buy a chair and ottoman set to go with that couch. To this day, the leather on all those pieces looks amazing. I had been so happy with my experience - AJ had helped me both times - that I recently returned to buy another chair to complete our living room. Before the purchase, I was set on buying another leather chair since I loved my previous purchases. However, in talking to AJ, he really tried to get a better understanding of what I was looking for and guided me to something that would be just as comfortable but not only enhance but be very complementary to everything else in my living room. Turns out, I bought another chair that I wouldn't have ever thought of if AJ hadn't showed me other options. We had our chair delivered and my wife and I truly love it! Overall, I would not only recommend Grossman Furniture but I'd also tell you to look for AJ. Not only can you get a good variety of furniture types, the quality is top notch, the prices have been better than other places, and you get solid help with people like AJ. I'm sure...
