My stay The Gaslamp Philly overall was comfortable and charming room experience. The location is fantastic—I love the walkability to the old city area, making it easy to explore the area on foot and see all the historical sites and resturants. For those traveling solo, there are cars and people out and about through the night. The building sits a little to the right, infront of Elfreth's Alley. The overall aesthetic of the hotel walkway entry, courtyard and main building entry door has nice vintage touches that give it a lot of character.
A few things to keep in mind: this is a historic building and for this particular room you will hear the footsteps and movement of other guests shuffling to get upstairs and the main building door opening and closing. If you're a light sleeper, I would not recommend booking the Davy room—it is directly by the main building entry door. That said, if you're used to a bit of city ambiance or travel with earplugs, you’ll probably be fine. The Davy room does not have a place to put to hang your clothes, but it is a spacious room with one soft chair, and then a hallway leads to the spacious bathroom and the kitchenette. You do have immediate access to the outside courtyard where there are chairs and tables. Another key takaway there is no lobby/lounge area once you enter the building, but guests can use the courtyard space -just be mindful of your noise chatter level.
Still, the character and location make it a great choice for those looking for something with more personality than a standard...
Read moreThey somehow got airbnb to remove my review so I'm posting elsewhere so that guests can be aware of these things. Theve also removed their google listing to remove reviews, I assume. We stayed in the Edison suite.||Pros:|1. Probably the nicest historic rehab I've ever stayed in, in style and craftsmanship. |2. Very clean and well appointed|3. Geographically quite convenient to many things|4. Safe neighborhood||Cons:|1. It's not an actual hotel, no lobby, no staff|2. No place to unload your things which was particularly difficult as we were traveling with kids. |3. While the check in instructions were relatively clear, the location is not clearly marked or well lit. There's just a vinyl sticker on the door. |4. Once you find the door, you still aren't in the building. You have to find the second exterior door in the courtyard and then make your way up to the suite|5. Only paid parking unless you park on the street. Not a big deal at around $40 per night except you have to drive there and then walk a few blocks back to the "hotel"|6. Internet didn't work||The negative part of our experience aside from the above minor inconveniences was that the air conditioning was not working in the loft, which is where the master suite is. I alerted them as soon as we arrived and it was never resolved before we left. The host in fact stated that they would send someone to look at it after we had left. They offered no discounts or other...
Read moreWe stayed at the Gaslamp Hotel in Philadelphia, and it was a truly wonderful experience. This boutique, Airbnb-style property is in a terrific part of town—just steps from the museums, the Betsy Ross House, and many other historic sites. It is also surrounded by some of the top restaurants in the Philadelphia area. Lots of wonderful little cafés and places to get coffee.||Our room, the Adams Room, was absolutely gorgeous. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in—I haven’t slept so well in ages! The furnishings were full of charm, and every detail of the décor felt intentional and thoughtfully chosen.||The small kitchenette was perfect for keeping drinks cold, and the bathroom was spacious with a large period-style bathtub and a separate shower. There is no need to bring shampoo or conditioner. They provide top of the line toilet trees as well.||We were in town for a party held at the Gas Lamp and the space made a great event venue. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable, and conveniently located place to stay in...
