The location is great and the staff was friendly. That said, this should be a glowing review - but it’s not. To cut to the chase - I would never stay here again and as expensive as it was I can find similar places for not much more that would not allow the issues that I experienced.

The hotel’s clientele, at least during our stay, completely ruined the experience. The walls are thin, the doors all slam every time they are closed, and the people in the hotel were up screaming, yelling, slamming doors, banging on walls, and seemed to be partying going from room to room. This lasted until 530 am from 9pm when they checked in. At 230 am we were still unable to sleep as they were walking up and down the halls yelling to each other and repeatedly their doors - slam, slam, slam. I called the front desk after hours of being awake but trying to be understanding and they supposedly sent security up - who did nothing as this continued for the rest of the night. Stopping at about 5 am when the partying caught up with them. The only sleep we got was from 6 am until 9 when the housekeepers began their rounds - then again, slam, slam, slam.

I came here for the location, paid extra for the view, and by morning had next to no sleep, had to change plans because everyone was too tired from being up all night, and I paid almost 300 dollars for the privilege.

Now I recognize that this isn’t specifically the hotel’s fault - to a point. However they are ultimately responsible for the environment of the hotel and despite being unpleasant, can and should do something to deal with problem guests. We literally stayed at another IHG hotel the night before and there was a similar problem and the staff there tried to work with the guests then asked them to leave and ultimately called the police and had them removed.

If this were the only experience like mine I may not have wrote and review - however, when I looked at other reviewing sites, I found that this was not an uncommon situation. Would have given the hotel a 4-5 star but best I can do is 2-3 for their lack of attention to dealing with problem guests. If this continues it will ultimately drive the type of clientele they attract. I really want to like this place as the location, parking, views are outstanding - but in all honesty I would not stay here again. Hopefully they get this figured out - until then buyer beware.

Update: Upon going to check out I believe I now know why this problem was allowed to continue. The large group of people going room to room and partying were likely part of a wedding party as I saw a notice to all the wedding guests that the bus to the event center would be leaving at 430 pm. Now the partying room to room, loud screaming, voices, timing, even the multiple trips to the ice machine all makes sense. If this is the case the hotel absolutely had financial motivation not to deal with the issues - but they also should have anticipated that this might be an issue and blocked the whole floor off, or taken other steps to mitigate what is a very...

We were here to attend a wedding in Philly. I read many of the reviews that mentioned road noise and called beforehand and was assured I would be placed in a renovated room that was very quiet. I realized my stay was part of a room block (due to the wedding), so I was not able to book a river view on the reservation. (I am a platinum member too). Anyway, I was checked in by a sweet young woman who said they were sold out, but my room was on a corner side and would be less noisy than the normal highway facing rooms. Boy, that was not the case. It turns out it was one of the noisiest rooms on the floor and because the window was not the same size as other rooms (smaller), it didn't have the pull-down shades to help with it. I went down to complain and ask for another room (my friend had a highway facing room down the hall that was less noisy) and was told by the manager Rosa there was nothing she could do. Neither my husband or I got any sleep and the holes in the curtains allowed light to enter the room in a pattern on the top of the wall by the ceiling. Also, it looked like strobe lights (white ones) on the ceiling. All other rooms had double pull down shades to keep light out and help filter noise||The next morning, I was fit to be tied because we hardly got any sleep and had a wedding that evening to attend. Rosa was very nasty to me and accused me of wanting to get the room for free, which was definitely not the case. All I wanted was a comfortable room whereby I could get some sleep. I hate to complain, but Rosa should not be dealing with people. In all my years of travel, I have never been encountered a manager with such an attitude. ||The worst part is there were 2 hotels blocked for the wedding, the Marriot Old City and this one. I love Holiday Inns, esp when renovated and find the beds so comfortable and rooms usually very clean. The fact that it was just renovated was a big plus. ||The person who saved the day was the housekeeping manager Terri. She was wonderful and even though Rosa said there were no other rooms available, Terri found me 2 rooms to choose from on the same floor. Terri, I cannot thank you enogh for your understanding and professionalism. You are an asset to the hotel and I hope upper management appreciates you. If management is reading this, GIVE HER A BIG RAISE. ||As far as the room itself, it was very clean and beds were really comfortable. I do suggest putting in a magnified makeup mirror for the ladies in the bathroom. There is more than enough counter space and would be appreciated by...

While there on a reunion I chose to stay at this hotel for the reunion with everyone else. STAY AWAY! This place is a disaster and complete dump! I am not a complainer but let me warn everyone… Hotel smells like musty mildew, Parking fee $47 a night, with security (this is important stay tuned), after checking in hotel construction on 3rd and 4th floor and was not told about when booking reservation, walked in room 511. Strong mildew smells, carpet ripped up, 19” or 24” tv, carpet was sticky and smelly, very few towels, no shower curtain 2 full beds and a wood chair.||Left room immediately and went to Philly to enjoy some RnR. Had headache most of evening.||Came back, was, exhausted went to sleep then next day went to reunion.||Please read on this gets worse!||After coming back from my reunion I brought all of these issues, very nicely. Response was ill bring it to the attention of manager.||Left hotel for dinner and a night out with my shipmates came back nd as we were walking into front door, we passed by a car with the windows down parked in hotel staff parking. In the car was the security guard and another employee smoking marijuana! Yes the security guard and staff member. Oh and I’m a retired police officer. ||I walk in and tell the front desk, I was told he would handle it. I walk out 15 mins later to get something out of car… still there smoking….||Checked out next morning and cancelled my next 2 days. Went to another hotel 3 miles down road Marriot at the Navy Yard, night and day difference and same price if not cheaper… Do yourself a favor and for the safety of yourself and family I wouldn’t recommend this Holiday INN Penns Landing until it’s cleaned up…..breathing issues, mental issues and safety issues and...

I stayed here as a solo traveller to attend a concert at the Freedom Mortgage Pavillion. Whilst admittedly, my first room was noisy being over the I-95 (earplugs were needed) the staff were most helpful when I raised this with them the following day. They moved me to a room overlooking the river and I was instantly more comfortable and it was quieter. I do not believe the rooms by the road are that loud by default so I think my room window had a faulty closing. So I am not making down rooms for that reason as it didn’t seem right and when I spoke to the team they put it right immediately. I only delayed the conversation due to jet lag and timing of events in my side- they could have, I’m sure, helped sooner had I spoken up. I am also recovering from Nerve surgery and they were most accommodating with offers of help. The location for the concert just across the water in Camden, NJ was great with the Riverlink ferry a short 10 min walk (and safe alone - but it was a concert day so it was very busy and well lit. I cannot speak for out season) The old city is a lovely part of town, with some nice bars around and a couple of spots if you don’t fancy the well stocked self serve breakfast. I had this one day and ate out the other, just for a bit of variety. Being jet lagged, I appreciated the 24/7 coffee free in the lobby! Big shout out to the lovely Yasmin, who is 100% customer focused and conscious. All the staff were helpful, but she stood out from check in and is a credit to the team.

Overall, the price point and location of this hotel make it a place I would stay again. The rooms are dated and worn. Our room had minor issues, like the blackout curtains being broken/unable to completely close. I didn't bring this to anyone's attention because it was 0100 when I noticed and I didn't really care. The room didn't have hand soap in the bathroom, I did care about that so I called down, was told if I wanted soap I'd have to come down and get it. Odd, but also not a big deal. Stayed in a riverview room on the 10th floor, loved the view of the bridge. You can hear city noise, mostly traffic and the train, turn the AC fan to stay on and it's not bad. (Or bring a sound machine if the noise bothers you.) Location was great for going to dinner in Fishtown and concert at the Fillmore. Self parking on site is a huge plus! Rideshare pick up was quick. We walked back to hotel from Fillmore around midnight and no one bothered us. The hotel lobby doors are locked and you need your room key to get in the building, which I like. Breakfast was surprisingly better than most HIE breakfasts I've had. Didn't like that Fox News was on the TV but 🤷‍♀️. Staff at the front desk were friendly, seemed happy to be there. They made sure to remind guests to take the room key to get out of the parking lot upon checkout.

This hotel has numerous issues. My stay, 12-15 Jan 2024, was meet with the following. 1st room assigned the bathroom sink was clogged and took about 10 minutes to drain. (See pictures) Staff immediately came and snaked the gunk/hair out. On day two of stay, (Happened at 11pm) the toilet refill assembly broke and water was gushing out. There is no turn off, like in your house. Staff had to come up to the room and physical turn of with a device. Staff did quickly assign me a new room, upgraded to remedy this. (Staff is great). Windows are cheap in both rooms. You can hear every noise from outside. And mind you, the SEPAT train running from Philadelphia to New Jersey, runs about every 20 minutes. You can hear it. Also, locals drag race cars up and down in front of hotel. The drag racing didn't stop until 2am one night. The hotel floods in front of the entrance. It does not affect the actual parking. This hotel needs the rooms modernized. Numerous chipped, water stained and peeling wood pieces. (See pictures) Only things good about this stay and hotel was the great staff and parking.
