I have religiously been coming every year for over a decade, minus closings for the pandemic. I am beginning to notice a pattern. It feels like the main attraction is slowly getting smaller to make more room for the extra paid attractions, and their effort in creating new content is now focused on that avenue, rather than on their bread and butter, the main haunted house.
To further comment on our particular experience this year:
Pros: queue actors were on fire and a blast. Porta potties weren't atrocious. The person spreading out and admitting groups did a great job, we didn't feel too crowded up on the people in front of us and it felt like our own experience.
Cons: the man at the main entrance working the metal detector (older, bearded man) was rude, aggressive, and treated attendees with contempt and derision. He was getting so angry and yelling at people for nothing. I didn't personally have a problem bc I was careful not to set him off, but I was taken aback at how he was treating people who paid to be there whose only faults were not understanding exactly what he wanted, or not complying with lightning fast reflexes. Not a good look when that's your very first experience upon walking in. From his overexaggerated movements, hand gestures, expressions and hair-trigger temper, it gave the impression that he either wasn't sober, or was jonesing. Second the actors were beyond lack luster. Our tickets were for Sat Oct 20, at 8:15 pm, so fairly early in the night. The actors barely did anything, they either just kinda stood there and would give you a half hearted croak or catchphrase as you were walking away, or weren't paying attention at all. On top of that, they felt few and far between. There were so many unmanned props and spaces that previously held actors in the past. My only scares were from 2 well placed props with loud sound/lighting effects and air compressor shots. Third, I appreciate that it's probably better for safety/cleanliness, but I really miss the airbag partitions in the swamp. It has always been your crown jewel in my opinion, and my favorite. The bags provided so much extra immersion because they added an additional sense, touch, like you were actually in water. Lastly I want to touch on the portion of your website that highlights "2024 Attractions." 1. Cemetery of Lost Souls: the set was awesome as always as it's the same set we know and love. The storyline of the girl was nowhere present. I heard one actor say, "careful she will get you" but had I not read the attractions page, I'd have had no clue what that meant. I didn't even notice a main actor as the girl. So it just felt like the same cemetery I've seen every year. 2. Dead Again is the worst I've ever seen it. It was so small and short missing the cool stuff it had in previous years, like the plane and the police car, which really sold the fall of humanity. There were also only 2 or 3 actors. Just so underwhelming. 3. Lycans Curse. All I can say is what? Where? When? To quote the description, "the Order of the Beasts dons animal totem masks and hunts villagers. Shape-shifting wendigos, werewolves, and evil spirits emerge" obviously there will be no visual shape shifting, but the only thing I saw even remotely close to that was the queue actor outside in the black furry mask lol other than that, there was a projected shadow of a wolf in an alcove with a howling sound, but I don't understand how something that small/short qualifies as a headlining attraction.
Lastly, a little suggestion, we love buying merch after. This year we bought 5 shirts. I appreciated the addition of the reduced section that had shirts from previous years, I def bought an oversize one to sleep in, plus 2 tarot shirts and full price 13th floor shirts. I wish you guys would have more/better 13th floor specific designs. I like having one from every year, but the selection is always kind of lacking, and I haven't been pleased with a design since the spirit board version 3 or 4 years ago.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk, Sincerely, a fellow...
Read moreExtremely Disappointing Experience â Not Worth the Price or Hype I purchased tickets for the 13th Floor Haunted House totaling almost $180, which included the Skip the Line pass, Access Any Time of Day option, and the Zombie Splat Jelly Ball add-on. It was also supposed to include access to the 21+ Secret Bar. Unfortunately, this entire experience was a letdown from start to finish. When we arrived, the staff scanned our passes and we did get to skip the outside line, but thatâs where the benefit ended. Right after they take your photo (which, by the way, turned out unclear and rushed I definitely wouldnât recommend purchasing those), youâre directed into a second line inside, which was even longer than the one outside. We waited about 30 minutes, and when I asked a staff member if our âskip the lineâ pass covered that as well, they said no, it only applied to the exterior line. That made absolutely no sense. Why pay extra just to skip one line and then stand in another for nearly half an hour? Inside, the warning sign said no flash photography or video recording, yet several patrons were doing both without anyone stopping them. The sign also stated that no one under 12 should enter honestly, I think only kids under 12 should enter. The haunted house was mostly cheap animatronics (that looked like something from a Home Depot Halloween aisle), and there were very few live actors. The few actors we did encounter were visible before they jumped out, completely ruining the surprise. One even told us we were âruining it for ourselves,â but the truth is, they ruined it for us by being so obvious. At one point, we walked through complete darkness for a long stretch that felt more like unfinished space than a designed scare zone. An actor behind us started growling and rubbing his fake chainsaw to push us along faster â which was irritating considering how much we paid. If Iâm spending $180, I should be able to take my time without being rushed. The fog inside was overwhelming â if you have asthma or breathing sensitivities, Iâd skip this entirely. The Zombie Splat Jelly Ball attraction was another letdown, there was only one actor running back and forth in a small area while we shot at them. Not worth the extra $8.
As for the 21+ Secret Bar, it didnât even exist. I asked about it at the end, and the staff admitted they hadnât secured their liquor license in time. It wasnât mentioned anywhere when purchasing tickets or at check-in that this part of the experience wasnât available.
Overall, I felt completely misled. The haunted house lacked energy, creativity, and genuine scares. The staff seemed tired and unenthusiastic, the props were low quality, and the entire experience felt rushed and unorganized.
If youâre considering this attraction â Iâd recommend it only for children under 12, because thereâs absolutely no fear factor or intensity for adults.
10/10 would NOT recommend. Save your money or find a haunted house that delivers what...
Read more13th floor haunted house in Phoenix AZ can be summed up in just a few words. A disappointing safety hazard with lots of potential!
Moth man visited the 13th floor for their opening weekend September 20th 2025 with a general admission ticket. The line was about an hour and is by far the most boring line I have ever stood in. While they did have a few actors interacting with guests in line there were very few visuals to entertain otherwise.
Once inside we had our picture taken and were moved to a second line. This line was short but very entertaining with animatronics lights and sounds setting the mood.
Upon entry to the official haunt I was blown away! The sets were gorgeous! Absolutely top notch along with the acting and makeup. On the down side the audio they had playing was SO loud I couldnât hear the actors deliver their lines even tho they were screaming right in my face. It really killed the whole story.
Then we entered a section of switch backs made of black walls. It wasnât a maize just one way to go. And I went on. And on. And on. It took up 1/3 of the whole haunt! And it was completely empty. No lights, no actors, no animatronics, and a loud metal type music that didnât fit the theme at all. It was like they just stopped building. This was a huge disappointment.
After that again we encountered amazing sets and actors with audio that was far too loud to feel balanced. This is where it got unsafe. In a room with tilted floors I placed my hand on the wall to steady myself and was stabbed with a sharp piece of wood. Not a small splinter an actual chunk of wood. I felt around and discovered the whole wall was this way not sanded down at all. Then again in a grave yard garden type area I moved to the side to allow an actor to pass and was cut on a metal sign that had raw sharp edges. It was like nobody did a walk-through of this place before opening.
Overall, I would not go again, and I definitely wouldnât pay full price for a haunted house that is left 1/3 unfinished . However they clearly have some serious talent on staff if only they would take advantage of it this place could be the top haunt...
