I stopped here briefly to use the free wifi to make an important call. This library advertises that it is a "safe place", meaning you can come here and escape the general persecution you receive if you get caught wearing a back pack and walking to your destination. At least until a Phoenix city security officer named Corbin (not certain of the spelling) came outside to show a landscaper (I'm assuming) or some other type of worker who would need to know where a water source was for early the next morning. He unlocked the hose bib with his key and told the employee in the brightly colored shirt that unfortunately he can't leave the hose bib unlocked because (gesturing towards me) these knuckleheads would abuse it. I quickly pointed out that was a violation of my civil rights, Corbin asked how so, I informed him that was discrimination based on my appearance wearing a backpack, he denied what I saw with my own eyes, said that everything was on camera, then told me that it was my word against his, which I took as more demeaning rhetoric from a person posing as my advocate. We need to have our rights restored. I am not currently homeless but was for several months after losing my job, as a sole provider in my house hold I had no safety net. I was not a criminal. I made a mistake and lost my job. Thanks Phoenix, for treating your community with such hostility for not having all of the advantages as the most elite of your members....
Read moreThis is a nice small quiet library close to McDonalds, if you're hungry after reading. I really enjoy coming here to this location. Today they had their homeless ID project going on from 1-3 pm. They also help individuals who need their birth certificate. It is held every 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month. There were quite a few people here. The library staff are all so kind and wonderful. They are always willing to help. I signed up for their Summer Reading Program for adults and I went in today to log my reading hours as of June 1st. So far I have over 2,000 plus minutes of reading. I Love to read. I received a Raising Cane's coupon for a free frozen lemonade, 2 PHX Mercury tickets, an adult pass to one of the state parks and a Kool looking little bag. Those are just a few of the prizes. Their Summer Reading Program started June 1st and ends August 1st. If you want to get out of sight & mind, come to this library, open a book and read away. They also have computers you can use. Great Job to the...
