I have been a loyal Harkins Theater customer for over 35 years. I bought yearly passes back in the day. However, my most recent experience on June 3rd was disappointing and infuriating. When I arrived at the theater the multiple ticket lines were backed up all the way into their parking lot. So, I chose to go inside and use their kiosk to buy our tickets. The first one I went to was marked “out of order”. I walked around to another ticket machine and waited while 2 girls tried to buy their tickets. They finally said this kiosk is not working either. I left the line and went to the service desk and explained that neither kiosk was working and then was able to buy my tickets from the service desk. Then we went to buy our drinks and popcorn. I believe there were 7 lines of people somewhere between 8 to 12 customers deep. We had arrived at the theater 20 minutes before our show was to start. By the time we got our refreshments, we were 25 minutes late getting to our seats, thus missing the previews and 1st 10 minutes of our movie. There were plenty of employees selling tickets and behind the counter. Not one of them tried to hustle or seem to care about all the many customers missing the start of their movies. Clearly, there is a problem with management. Dan Harkins would never have allowed this to happen in one of his Theaters. After waiting again for over 20 minutes to get a popcorn refill, I went to the service desk to issue a complaint and was told I should have come earlier when there are popular movies playing. No, no, no! They need to better train employees or get a new manager who can get the job done. The whole experience...
Read moreJust had an embarrassing situation for a popcorn refill. The manager behind the register argued with me trying to be correct about the refill policy and absolutely need to verify the purchase on your loyalty account before he will refill a bag. I completely understand if there are policies in place but we always buy promotions, loyalty cups, tin cans with tshirts in them, those huge to go popcorn bags for parties and the butter that goes with it. At the point of sale when the arguement began, I told him I was not about to get in to an arguement about a popcorn, after the movie I approached Christopher Franklin (I think that's his name) to make peace and explain to him he embarrassed me in front of my family and many other people. I spoke to him calmly but he would not hear any of it and proceeded to argue and stated he would get his supervisor instead. After 2 other managers came down, they listened to what I said, offered tickets for another day but I explained I was not looking for anything free, just respect your loyal visitors and never argue about a simple popcorn that will never break...
Read moreI am a member of their reward program and I have the loyalty cup as well. My biggest complaint is that if I dont show up 15-20 minutes earlier than show time I end up missing content waiting in line for a drink and popcorn.
I enjoy Harkins for their membership deals on drinks and popcorn, but I dont enjoy how long it takes to take advantage of it. Even being early I usually end up waiting a while and not making it into the theater in time for previews.
I went last weekend pretty late on a Saturday night to see Jurrasic World. We were right on time so all my friends went and found seats while I got in line for my popcorn and soda. I missed all the previews and a small portion of the beginning because the concession line was so slow. There were only 2 couples in front of me and just getting my soda & popcorn took a lot longer than it should.
I find the Metro Harkins to be much faster on average, but isn't as convenient to go to because of where I live.
The establishment is in great shape otherwise and the theater is rather clean every time. My only gripe is how slow the staff is for...
