Pecos Park Skate Park is very good as well as lacking in needed areas. It is medium to large and a varied in difficulty. Little graffiti. No shade and essentially almost no seating. Could use a drinking fountain that has some form of shade. While there are a number of drinking fountain on the west side of the road, all are baking in the sun. In the skate area there are empty liquid containers and some trash. No one was in the skate area in the two hours at Pecos Park 06/04/2022. The park provides a lot of parking. Strangely Phoenix City Parks are seldom rated except for the general Park. Trying to add categories to get separate ratings does not happen on Goigle Maps. There is a great deal that can be offered on specific activities. Pecos Park Pickleball is exceptional but bunched into Park reviews and very little mentioned. You have 16 terrific courts south of the cement volleyball courts. On the north side of volley ball are 8 more pickleball plus two tennis courts. The tennis are also striped with both tennis and pickle ball. In my recent two visits only tennis had very few visitors. With volleyball there is no separate listing for ratings and or reviews. I am not aware of any other park, in the greater Phoenix group of cities that has both cement as well as sand volleyball courts. That is the point. Who wants to read through a foolishly long review such as mine?? Neither the cement nor sand are particularly good. Please consider if the large Pecos Park has more feedback it might possibly improve in specific areas. That might allow the tremendous potential in the large park to slowly be developed. A person at the park actually does not know the actual number of Pickleball and Tennis Courts! In attempting to find out I saw different numbers on the Web. Did you know that Pecos Park has two locations for basketball? Courts on the east side of the road are really good but if not available there is the west side courts just south of...
Read moreSo much for a "community" center. The skatepark itself is actually pretty cool. The transition isn't to big or to small. Plenty of different lines and obstacles to hit. The problem comes if your trying to ride a bike here. Me and some friends rode here for almost two hours with no issues today. Then a city worker told us we had to take our bikes out or he'd have to call the police. Really?! For riding our bikes? We asked why and he had no answer other than "that's what the city wants". The skaters there had no issues with us being there and even the city worker admitted that he doesn't care either but again, that's what the city wants. Why no bikes, but scooters and roller skaters are fine? Why are you segregating in a time when we're trying to be all inclusive? Not really showing a great sign of community if you ask...
Read moreI’ve noticed the last few months the punk scooter kids have been leaving trash everywhere (snack wrappers, plastic bottle caps, kicking the pebbles onto the concrete) and they don’t know stuff like this is hazardous to skaters. And to the parents: while this is the safest skatepark in the valley, your 8 year old doesn’t understand skatepark etiquette, so it’s only a matter of time before they accidentally cut off someone going full speed. Also, if you are using a scooter/bike you are not welcome and are an inconvenience to the rest of the people at the park. That rule goes for...
