The TL:DR The food was perfection on a plate, in a bowl, or sipped from a glass. You’ll spend about $100 a person and the experience is worth every cent. What we ordered: The starter, West and East Coast oysters. They were superb. There were four of us and a hearty debate over which coast’s was better. We’d recommend you do the same. Next, the potato pesto focaccia. If you aren’t and oyster fan, this bread and a glass of wine could be a meal all on its own. It’s simple and wildly delicious. Entrees, My husband order the Filet with Potato Purée, Chicken Jus, Crispy Shallot and Roasted Wild Mushrooms. The filet is the best steak in Scottsdale, hands down. My daughters (11 & 14) ordered the SQUID INK STRIGOLI and PASTA AL POMODORO both raved. I enjoyed the bright seafood of the TRENETTE ALL'ARAGOSTA (not pictured) with a glass from the Russian River Valley. Dessert: All pictured, we split BLACK COCOA PAVLOVA (V, GF) which is Black Cocoa Meringue, Salted Honeycomb Gelato, Seasonal Citrus, Passion Fruit, Dark and Stormy Froth. SALTED CARAMEL BUDINO a silky Chocolate Tuille, Vanilla Whipped Cream, and Caramel Popcorn. GIANDUJA BROWNIE (GF) a Hazelnut, Dark Chocolate Cremeux, A5 Miyazaki Charred Tallow, and Mint Coco Nib Gelato. The desserts were everything you hope for in an indulgence. They are so good, the 14 year old asked to meet the chef and for a 1-hour cooking session. She is enamored. The Americano is considered “$$$$$” running around $100 a person and worth every penny due to the level of creativity and the immersive experience beginning to end. Should you bring kids? Yes and this is NOT the place for rambunctious kiddos that need to move. We brought our kids because they are young adults in their behavior and can hang through a three hour meal. Why spend so much on kids? We believe our children would grow through the experience and learn to take risks when they order and cook as adults. We also want them to know what good food by a talented staff and chef...
Read moreOur first time at Americano. My wife had tried several times to make reservations for a Friday dinner but they were always booked. We attempted just showing up on a Friday to eat on the bar, but could not even get on the parking lot. So, she made reservations three weeks in advance and tonight was the night. The parking is a problem as all spots were taken. Luckily they offer complimentary valet so we let them park for us. Check in and seeing the place for the first time was a treat. The hostess was perfect, as was the decor. Promptly seated in a very nice booth we had no wait to place our choice of water and place our drink order. The waiter, Stephen, was a nice young man, very professional and courteous. Drinks were promptly served and we relaxed and took in the decor. It reminded us of the better restaurants in Las Vegas where my wife and I used to spend one week a month at either the Belagio or more recently the Palazzo, playing poker, shopping, and eating at a different place nightly. Very modern, clean, great background music. Must see individual rest rooms with lights and music that turn on when you enter. Perfect lighting and art work everywhere you look. To get to the best part, the food. The bread service was an earthy wheat/rie that came with cherrywood smoked butter. Very impressive. MY wife ordered the scallops, I ordered the Campanella pasta. My wife said the scallops were the best ever. My pasta was to die for. It is now my favorite pasta dish ever. After a few glasses of prosecco, we finished off with two scoops of gelato, one chocolate one vanilla. We enjoyed a perfect evening. Great decor, great service, great food, great atmosphere. The Americano is now one of my favorite dinner spots. It is not inexpensive, our night was $124.00. But if you are half way smart you get what you pay for. For that price what we got was a good deal. I recommend The Americano to everyone who appreciates great food and great...
Read moreI went for Happy hour with 4 other friends. We arrived early, 5pm on a Tuesday evening. Myself and one other person ordered off the regular full price menu while the other 3 ordered off the happy hour menu. All the food showed up except my Salmon. I told my friends to go ahead as mine was coming. 5 minutes later the manager realized I didn't have a meal and went to see where my food was. At the same time the waitress did the same. Another 5 minutes passed and they brought my meal. I took one bite and knew it had been sitting under a heat lamp cooking the additional 10 minutes while I waited. I had specifically ordered my Salmon medium rare. I quietly called the manager over and told him to take it back that it was well done. He offered to get me something else. As my friend were almost done eating and by this time I was done I told him no thank you. He continued to press me. I told him no thank you as I didn't want to wait and then make my friend wait for me to finish eating. He pressed further so I said I would take a Caesar salad figuring it would be quick. He pushed me to get shrimp on top. I said the salad was fine. I waiting another 5-7 minutes and the salad arrived. By now as I predicted my friends were finished and I had to quickly eat as they were now finished. The bill then arrived. I was glad to see they removed my Full priced $32 salmon but they then charged me for the salad I didn't want in the first place $14. I get that everyone makes mistakes but as a former restaurant owner to push food onto someone that says no thank you to make it right and then charge them for it is wrong. I paid my bill and tipped the waitress but will not be going back. Honestly I am surprised the management didn't contact me immediately after I left them a review that night on Yelp. My friends all had great meals so I am disappointed I didn't get to...
