KEEP PROOF OF PAYMENT. Ask for an itemized bill before you pay, so you know what you’re being charged for. They will overcharge you and keep in your patient record that you paid the amount you actually owed, rather than the amount you paid. So when you call the billing office, they will tell you that they only have record of you paying a certain amount that you in fact did not pay. And it will take multiple calls and weeks to get your money back. They will give you false information, so verify it with your insurance and keep them on the line if you have to. Every time you call you’ll get a different false story. Their patient records are INCORRECT and their stories are INCONSISTENT. They provide you with false information. For example, they tried to tell me the extra $40 was actually what my insurance owed them, and it’ll be refunded to me once my insurance paid. I checked myself AND called my insurance to confirm that my insurance did NOT owe them money. So according to that story, I would have never gotten a refund. Not to mention, the person on the call was very rude and kept interrupting me. Then, another worker told me I actually only owed $80 less than I had actually paid, not 40. He kept this story up for a week (3 different calls claiming I would get an even bigger refund) without any explanation as to why, and it was incorrect information as that did not match my patient share. More time wasted. And no, I did not receive the bigger refund. I am never coming back to this place. They can’t keep their stories straight. The front workers are clueless in regards to medical billing, and the billing department doesn’t understand insurance either. Why did I pay an amount that was different than what you entered into my patient chart that I paid? Maybe it was a “mistake,” but it is one that was not so easily resolved with their incompetent billing department and their numerous incorrect stories. By the looks of it, they were hoping I wouldn’t fuss over $40. Additionally, I spent almost $100 to wait for 40 minutes, then have a 5 minute consultation. Couldn’t even decide what my skin...
Read moreIt was the worst. It was my first visit with Dr. Dathan Hamann, and he made me feel like such a bother. He was visibly annoyed when I remembered a detail about my past eczema treatment plans and later expressed his annoyance when he made a comment about how I got him off track and redirected the conversation. He was annoyed that I couldn’t remember the names of the chemicals that I’m allergic to (I’ve forgotten their names since resetting my cosmetics and toiletries months ago). As part of my treatment plan, he told me not to use any steroids or creams for two weeks. When he offered a steroid shot to treat a recent bee sting, I was confused because it seemed to contradict my treatment plan, but I agreed because I assumed he knew what he was doing. He then told me that getting the shot would make it difficult to determine whether my skin was improving as a result of our treatment plan or the shot. I told him that I would rather skip the shot because I didn’t want to jeopardize the results of the treatment plan. He looked at me like I was stupid and said flatly, “It won’t.” No further explanation was offered. I was confused, humiliated, and desperate for relief, so I ultimately agreed. Changing my answer clearly annoyed him because he said, “Uhhhh. Ok.” and walked away abruptly. Earlier in the exchange, I had asked Dr. Hamann if it was normal to react to a bee sting a week after getting stung. He cut me off to say yes. I saw a different provider later in the day who diagnosed an infection and was surprised to hear that another medical professional saw it and considered it normal. Dr. Hamann came highly recommend by a friend whose opinion I trust, so I was shocked that he would make me feel so stupid and a nuisance. I genuinely hope that my experience was unique and that other patients who are struggling with their skin don’t also have to struggle to be treated...
Read moreI went in to have an excision procedure on 1/9/2024 that went very well. Dr. Dathan Hamann had a skilled hand and was able to take care of my issue nicely.
However, the next two days I experienced pain across the excision site, which I had expected to experience, but not to the degree I felt. I wrote to the doctors office in the patient portal on 1/10 and 1/11, as well as called on 1/10 (spoke to Macy) and 1/12, requesting a doctors note for missing work, and low dose pain medication to help for the first few days. I received one call back on 1/11, stating they saw my messages and to call to discuss. They did not leave their name. I called back and left a voicemail, in which nobody returned my call.
Later, on 1/12, I noticed a missed call from Oscar at the clinic. He was assisting the doctor during my procedure, and I was presuming he was calling to go over the results of my pathology report that was posted on the portal on 1/11. I called immediately back, and again got voicemail. I left yet another message in which I never got a call back either.
This lack of professional follow-up and care is alarming. Being ignored is never a great sign. The things I asked for were not unreasonable. What’s the point of having a patient portal if you’re going to ignore patients? What’s the point of posting my pathology report to the same portal, and then not call me to go over them? I’ve had to have other medical professionals look at the report to know if I needed to worry or not.
Unfortunately, this entire experience, while the procedure was done well, the subsequent lack of care and communication with me is unforgivable. I’ll have to find another dermatology office that will care enough to speak with me after a procedure. As of the date of this review, I still have yet to receive any response to my requests or pathology review. It’s...
