DO NOT GET EXTENSIONS AT SNAPDRAGON!
I recently had a very unfortunate experience with extensions put in by Kandy, the owner of Snapdragon Salon.
Summary: Kandy put a poor extension product in my hair that slipped after each wash. I had the extensions removed about 1 week later due to too much slippage, and I requested a refund. After 3 weeks of waiting for a refund and some back and forth on the amount of the refund, the salon decided they could give me a full refund but they could not invite me back to be a client at Snapdragon. Read on for the detailed version.
The complete extension experience required 6 appointments: Consultation Coloring my hair to better match the extension hair swatches Applying the extensions Returning to cut the extensions to the desired length Returning for slippage Returning again for slippage which resulted in the removal of the extensions
The extensions slipped after each hair wash. Note: I washed my hair every 3 days as recommended. I bought Bumble and Bumble shampoo, conditioner, hair mask and styling pomade as recommended. I also followed the extensions care guide that was given to me by the salon.
After the first wash and hair slip, I went to the salon to get the hair reapplied to the appropriate position on my head. On the second wash, different sections of the hair slipped. I returned to the salon again to get the extensions removed as this was clearly either a poor product, poor application or both. The day I had the hair removed, the owner and stylist Kandy had swatches in her hand and told me she was vetting a different extension hair brand because she was “tired of this happening”. I was unhappy that she likely knew she was putting a bad product in my hair from the start. I gave the hair back and requested a refund.
After 3 weeks of waiting for my refund, Snapdragon said they could only refund the cost of the hair ($590) and not the service ($310). I had the extensions for about 1 week and returned to the salon twice during that week for slippage, so again, I requested a full refund as the product and services were completely unsatisfactory. Snapdragon said they could give me a full refund but they could not invite me back to be a client at their salon.
CONS Several appointments The complete process required 6 appointments, almost 7 because Kandy forgot to color match my hair to the extensions during my second appointment when she colored my hair. She asked me to return for a color match but I was not available in the timeframe requested, so she best-guessed the color and ordered the hair anyways. Kandy said she couldn’t cut the hair the day she applied the extensions due to possible shrinkage when first washed. I left the salon with 3” longer hair than I wanted and had to return 3 days later for a cut. I was not told this ahead of time.
I took excellent care of the hair, but the extensions still slipped during each wash. I was careful not to allow conditioner to touch the extension bonds while washing my hair.
A LOT of time and money was invested.
Kandy was pretty rough when working on my hair. My head experienced some soreness after I left the salon.
It was disappointing that Kandy may have known she put a poor product in my hair and then uninvited me to the salon after I asked for a refund.
PROS Mia does an excellent job washing and blow drying hair.
Aimee kept me up to date on my refund and was empathetic towards...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I really wanted to like this Salon, I read great things about it and even had an FB friend recommend it.
I called and made an appointment and the lady on the phone was very nice (best customer service I've experienced when calling in a salon). The lady asked me several questions about my hair to find the best stylist. She recommended one of the top hairdresser, Jenny. The next appointment for Jenny was 3 weeks out! I was a little taken back but was willing to wait bc she came so highly recommended.
I showed up for my appointment and met Jenny. Jenny seemed like a very nice lady. We had a long talk about what I was looking to have done with my hair and I showed her pictures of what I wanted. I told her I wanted a natrual sun kiss glow like the girls in the photo and I did NOT want an Ombre. I wanted it to look natural and not have half of my hair a different color. I thought we were on the same page.
Jenny started working on my hair and really wasn't that talkative. It was a little akward bc she wasn't overly friendly and every salon I've gone to in the past the lady doing your hair normally becomes your new best girlfriend for the next hour or so. Anyways, 30 mins into the appointment a lady shows up for Jenny (another appointment). Jenny worked back and forth between me and some lady and had an assistant helping out.
I felt like it was a rushed job because she had to attend to someone else. I also felt for the money I spent ($230 bucks), I should have had a better hair dye job.
I also have to say, if the hair dye job came out like the photos I showed Jenny, I wouldn't have mind the long wait for the appointment or her not being overly friend/chatty or even having booked two appointments so close together but looking back at my experience, it was to over priced for the results.
The hair dye wasn't bad but it wasn't what I asked for. Jenny told me that it would take a couple of times seeing her to get the hair color I wanted. I feel by her saying that she was cop out for rushing and not really putting in the time to do the job. I have posted a picture (on yelp) and you can judge for yourself.
I wish I had a better review but I dont...

i’ve struggled finding the right stylist to cut my hair. my hair turned curly about 5 years ago and only recently have i began to embrace my curls. looking for the right stylist is hard, but DANI took such good care of me!! i made an appointment with her for a curly cut and later she also toned my highlighted hair. dani took the time to get to know my hair — which comforted me knowing i went to the right person and place. every step, she informed me of everything she was going to do, and she also gave me helpful tips that way i can take care and style my own hair at home! she is very sweet and very knowledgeable. i’m happy to trust her with my hair. this was my first time someone else used the diffuser on my hair. i’ve seen plenty videos about how to do it, but doing it myself wasn’t very easy. however, dani provided such good information on how to achieve the best curls and make them last longer. this haircut was honestly the best decision i’ve made. i feel utmost happy with my experience here at snapdragon and with dani, i truly feel like the universe guided me here. though it’s a bit far from me, i will definitively come back again :)
ALSO !!! funny side note but dani is amazing at washing my hair LOL! i feel like i was at a spa the way she washed my hair. other places i’ve been to, they just .. feel like normal hands washing my hair. but dani really went in and massaged my head and omg it was so relaxing. love her so much !!!
in the first picture you can see how my hair looked for awhile (i cut 5-6 inches off right before i saw dani).
in the new pictures, you can see how beautifully she cut, toned, and styled my hair!! (btw she gave me a wolfcut ! the layers were perfect to give me the volume i wanted) . i was absolutely astonished when i saw the final product. i’ve never seen my hair look like this before!!! dani brought out the potential my curls had and i am so very happy with the results....
