I decided to check out Glow because I received a gift certificate for a massage as a Christmas present. Let me just say that I was very thankful that I did not have to pay for this experience out of my own pocket.
Positives- the place is very beautifully decorated (although it is VERY dark inside.) all of the staff members that I encountered were very friendly when I actually got a chance to interact with them.
Negatives- First, I had a negative experience before I even ever set foot in the salon. I tried calling to book my appointment, and no one EVER answered the phone. I left three different voicemails, on three separate days, and no one ever called me back. Finally, I got fed up and booked online, which I did not want to do, because I had a few questions. Someone finally called me back a few days later.
Second- the salon is VERY hard to find. You have to walk all the way around behind the building to the back alley and the entrance is right next to the dumpsters. Classy. I almost missed my appointment because I couldn't find the darn place. Where are the signs?
Third- my masseuse, El, was very nice and professional, but I was very disappointed in my massage. I had requested deep tissue, and what I got felt like she merely rubbed some oil on my skin, and that was it! I mentioned several times that I wanted firmer pressure, but nothing changed. My aching muscles felt no different afterwards then they did when she started. If I had actually paid $60 for that, I would have been outraged.
Fourth- speaking of prices, the prices at this place are basically DOUBLE what you pay at other reputable places. $60 for a 30 minute massage? You have got to be kidding me.
Lastly, to cap it off, when the massage was over, my masseuse ushered me out to the empty reception area where myself and another customer waited for 15-20minutes without anyone coming to check us out. The lady with me got so annoyed that she finally went back in to look for someone who could help us. I figured they must not want our money that badly, and was about to leave, when a technician finally came to let us pay. I have no idea where the receptionist was.
In short, this place has nice potential, but with the experience I had with this appointment, I probably won't ever go back. I hope for their sakes, this was just an "off day" or they won't be in...
Read moreTL;DR: Sangee sent me a 3 hour long itinerary of various services I was receiving. Spent only 39 minutes waxing multiple spots on my body and got offended/defensive when I asked her to correct it. Went home with irritated skin and had to fix the issues myself. $$$ wasted
I would not recommend this place due to the owner, Sangee. I did have a facial with Lauren that was fantastic, but I cannot support the business owner and will not be returning.
I booked a big, expensive spa session complete with underarm, bikini, and leg waxing, lash tinting, and a signature facial. Glow Skin sent me an itinerary of my services…I remember being wowed at how organized this place appeared to be.
It turns out the “itinerary” was just for show. I was supposed to be given waxing services from 12-1:45. I want to preface this by saying I am not new to waxing; every other place I’ve been to spends at least 45 mins on my legs alone. Sangee "finished" everything I had signed up for at 12:39 (I checked the clock); it was the most patchy, painful waxing I had ever gotten. She was supposed to spend a full hour on my legs! I was floored when I looked down and saw the shoddy work.
The remainder of my waxing time slot was incredibly awkward as I tried to politely get the full wax that I paid for. Sangee had rubbed oil on my legs and then attempted to wax on top of the oil. It went exactly how you would imagine (oil and wax don’t mix) and left my skin raw with the amount of times she had to reapply and pull. Sangee tried to tell me that I wouldn’t be able to get the other services I had booked due to how long the wax was taking…I looked at the clock and we were STILL within my waxing window. Then, she had the nerve to call the full, long hairs remaining on my legs ingrown. They were not even remotely stuck under the skin, it was just a poor attempt at copping out. Had Sangee done the waxing right the first time there wouldn't have been an issue. Even my husband commented on the shoddy job when I got home and helped me pluck the hairs with tweezers.
Again, the facial was great at least (done by Lauren). Even so, I can not give Sangee my business. It is too bad that, since she is the business owner, that I won't have my issue rectified due to that. Ultimately, I did not get the level of service that I paid for and I would contest it with my...
