Great American Pub Phoenixville — Restaurant in Phoenixville

My boyfriend and I decided to go to the Great American Pub in Phoenixville for some apps and drinks for my birthday. We went to the inside bar and sat down. A women bartender gave us a warm greeting and asked what we would like. We order drinks and some apps (dumplings and the chicken quesadilla). Both of which were great for the price, it was happy hour. We were talking and the bartender heard it was my birthday and immediately wished me Happy Birthday and offered a free drink. That was an unexpected treat!

After a bit we decided to go outside since it was such a nice day and I was having a few friends come out to meet me for Birthday Drinks. We sat at the outside lounge area near the fountain. BTW: the outside area is a great area to hang with friends; it’s just fantastic and fun. As soon as we sat down a waitress came over to ask us what we would like. At this point we had drinks but we told her that we will be having a few more friends join us and asked her if she would mind if we pulled some of the furniture over to make our area bigger. She was so nice and said “absolutely, not a problem”. As soon as some friends arrived our waitress ran over to see if we need anything. Before you know it we had about 15 friends join us. I thought we would be overwhelming to the waitress but she was right on top it and even had a big smile on her face. She didn’t seem to mind at all. The food was 5 stars and so was all the service we received. Keep up the great work, we will be back!!!

p.s. They have a smoker that they use to cook some of the items on the menu. So the next time I go back I will be ordering one of their slow roasted sandwiches, which...

The night started with waiting for a hostess. I'm not sure how long the party in front of us had been waiting but long enough for the one gentleman to go looking for ANY employee. We finally were seated and specifically asked if separate checks would be a problem & were told no problem It was repeated to the server how the checks would be split. We placed a drink order and waited for the rest of our party to come. After the last of the party came we places our orders. The hit food came out 1st: 3 orders, 4 orders, and 10 minutes had passed and 2 orders(salads) had yet to arrive. I brought it to the attention of our server who had eventually walked by. I was told it was coming. 5 minutes later the salads came out, I think they were forgotten being the only cold items ordered. Never saw the server again without someone havibg to go and find her. She finally came back with our 1 check not the 3 we originally requested.we had to ask for to go boxes, she did not offer or ask if we needed any. We were a party of 9 and she bright 2 containers. I had most of a pizza and I specifically said I needed a lrge box, she came back with 2 more clear plastic container and said that wad all they had available. I believe the restaurant offers takeout which would include pizza so there would be pizza boxes available. There were only 2 other tables occupied at the time by the way since it was a Tuestay night. The server needs a lot of training or she needs to find a new line of work, she is lousy at this one. This is one of the best spots in Phoenixville. Great atmosphere, very comfortable place. I went on a Thursday to watch the Eagles game.I decided to order some food for halftime. This l do everytime when I'm out to watch an NFL game. I was told by the bartender that the kitchen closes at 9. It was around 9:45. My opinion, don't head here for any games. It just took away from the whole experience of going there. I know it hard to find help these days. The bartender lacked any kind of personality witch also didn't help. Ashame, this place has a chance to thrive, but I for one was really disappointed in my choice that evening. I would love this place to be my go to spot but they need some extra training and a better understanding of there customer base. Sorry Pub. You need a better effort.

I have revisited this restaurant many times since I did this review. The owners keep working at their craft. It shows. They have now incorporated tv's all around the back area. Although the hanging lights remain in some of the views. An easy fix. I do miss the smoker they used to have outback. It really gave off a memorable one of a kind experience. Food and service upgrades that were badly needed and have been done. When a business does a good job and puts in the work, It needs to be commended. This is why I needed to update this Review....
