Janet S. is greedy and unprofessional, she will shamelessly take a higher paying client last minute like a rat going after cheese. I do not recommend her. Do not expect decent service from this ULTA location. Their employees are poorly trained and unprofessional. The “Karen” manager could have notified a client of a scheduling change instead of sitting on her butt and gossiping. I scheduled a 12:15 PM appointment five days in advance for a photo shoot. The reason I chose this location rather than my usual one was its proximity to the shoot compared to my usual location. However, when I showed up for the appointment, Janet S, the elite master had taken a different client for highlights at 12:00 PM instead of my blow and style. I found out my appointment was switched to a student/beginner without notifying me. If the booking is for an elite master stylist that’s what should remain instead of rescheduling the booking to a less experienced person and taking on a higher paying client which comes across as pure greed.
What’s the point of a booking system when the salon is actually treated as walk in? There would be no issue had the salon reached out to me a few days earlier to give me a chance to book another appointment at a different salon. Instead, I drove an extra 20 minutes to find out I had been bumped and then scrambled to find a last minute appointment on a Sunday afternoon which caused me undue stress and anxiety before the shoot.
I respected the elite master by not canceling at the day of. It is unprofessional and reeks of bad karma to drop an appointment to take a higher paying one and then not notify the person who made the original booking! When it came to getting my makeup done they barely had any products to actually do my makeup, the artists was basically scraping product out of the makeup kit items and telling me to rub it all over my face. I then washed my face TWICE after I got home from the event and two days later I’m here with styes on my eyes. The makeup kit itself looked disheveled and dirty, not sure if they routinely replace these items or wash the brushes… Now let’s get to the hair, I had explained to the artist doing my makeup what I wanted to do for my hair, in which she relayed to the hairstylist. As I sat in the chair the hairstylist didn’t say a single word to me and just got started on my hair. I was looking for just a straightening with my ends flipped out. I proceeded to get nothing I asked for as he just went to town on my hair and I ended up with beach waves, I was in a rush so at this point I didn’t even care anymore I just wanted to get out of there. My wife placed an order online for three items totaling about $350. Once the order was “ready for pickup” she was told that 2 of the three items weren’t in stock and she would be eventually refunded for the items. That was some uneducated disrespectful girl at the pickup window that couldn’t have the decency to even try to explain why the site would claim untrue things or attempt to make up for their mistakes by trying to find out if there was a nearby store or something that ACTUALLY had the items in stock. My wife’s first experience at this store and probably her last. She tried calling a customer support number just to be hung up on the first time, and the second time just told to wait for the refund to eventually get credited to her card and to place another order online.
