Really great Coaster! The seating leaves every row able to enjoy the rushing wind in their faces instead of that being just a front row experience. Ride the front two rows of you like hang time and floating -- our the back two rows is you prefer feeling the slingshot over the top and down the hills. Very smooth and so enjoyable. And if you have fast lane, the shortcut to get right back in line is amazing for twisted back to back rides. Fury may have a bigger drop and faster top speeds, but IMO only being in the very front row on Fury is "better" than Intimidator. I love both of these coasters for different reasons, and Intimidator is a fun ride where you can see the people around you to joke and pick on each other during the ride, and you have a ride that is long enough to make you wrongly think that it's over at the flat top -- and still take you through 3 more hill tops and a roundabout for your photo. Really cool layout and combination of airtime hills and banked turns, along with much better aerial views of the park than Fury -- because of the positioning and direction your facing on each during the higher parts of each ride. The views from Intimidator at night when the park is fully lit up...
Read moreCarowinds's Intimidator is what it looks like: a series of staggering air-time hills intended to intimidate new riders and instill general glee in coaster enthusiasts. I have two takes on this ride. As a first-time rider who was at least a decade removed from my last coaster, Intimidator's hills shocked me by inducing that stomach-dropping feeling and prolonging it just long enough that I could not scream it all away. The continuance of air-time hills left me in a constant state of thrilled terror that was difficult to fully recover from even after the ride was over. Now, after twenty or so re-rides, Intimidator is an old favorite that guarantees smooth air-time and a little spine tingle on the first drop of the day. This coaster is re-ride-able, if formulaic. Coaster heads may find little to write home about but should not dismiss this ride for adherence to expectation. Intimidator shows its cards up front and delivers exactly what a far-off glance promises. Clever seating spacing ensures that everyone gets a good view, and B &M's signature clamshell restraints allow riders a full dose of float...
Read moreThe Intimidator is such a fun well-rounded B&M hypercoaster. This was my first ever hypercoaster and the 211 ft drop is nowhere near as intense as Fury 325's. I think the best way to describe the coaster is just plain fun. You have it all, speed, airtime, and sweeping views of the park and parking lot.
The airtime on it is pure bliss!!! Maybe the trims weren't hitting as hard but sitting in the front gives you the best airtime and overall the ride like Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland seems to last as long as you'd like it to feel. If you're an airtime enthusiast this is definitely a coaster that's easy to marathon if you want to.
My favorite ride ever on it was riding it as the park was about to close. The fireworks were going off and you could see them very clearly at the top of the airtime hills. Its magical moments like this that truly make this coaster shine above many of the others. Also the red and white color scheme looks just perfect. Fury 325 may be the "King" of Carowinds but Intimidator will always remain...
