I called to ask for just one night. A special night as it was both my husband and my birthday. We’ve never been here before, so we had no idea...I asked for a nice spot with grass as it was our birthdays and I wanted it to be special. Well...they don’t assign spaces...only the day of do you know. But you’d think that they’d at least give us a spot with grass. That’s all we wanted for our birthdays...a nice spot to park our RV for the night on our birthdays. The reservationists assures is that we’d have grass and a nice spot. NOPE! Literally one of the worst spots in the entire place. We’re in spot 295 where there’s a huge electricity box buzzing behind us...no grass. The bathroom is right next to the spot which it seems people either like or not. We do not. The fire ring was placed closer to the road than others. And because that was the only place we could Park our car (right in front of it) there was no fire that night. Something we were really looking forward to. We took a walk in the evening through the place and counted ten plus open spots. Every single one would have been better than what we had! This place is HUGE. They pack you in like sardines at this place which it seems the people who come here like just fine. It IS like a village. Hopefully you get nice neighbors because you’ll be about 5’ from them. Seems like a lot of people come together as a group with spots back to back to have group interaction. There’s a tiny 4’ wide patch of grass that runs continuously along the “backyard” of every spot...except a few like ours. The north end of the park is calm and has some nice views at some spots. It’s a desirable place over there where they seem to all collectively go to bed at 9pm. The 4 bath houses are nice enough. Although when I took a shower in the one next to us, the shower head fell off. Also, when I walked in, the janitor was cleaning the floors with a dirty mop and bleach. Good thing I wear my water sandals I’m public showers. There was mildew at the tops of the curtains. There’s a “square” with arcade, grill, community area with books to take and games, a small general store, and a laundry. Beside it is a pool. There are horseshoes and other yard games around the property. The big plus here is that it’s not a loud group of people on the whole. It’s amazing that with so many people, they are all very neighborly and conscientious on the whole. There is a curfew at ten for the kids and a sound curfew for everyone else as well. The kids here seem to absolutely enjoy this place. It’s safe as well with a guard gate. It’s walking distance to town and shopping. The property is technically on the beach...but you wouldn’t know it. You can walk up through three beach entry ways that take you to the river inlet with the ocean beyond it. They close the gates at night though so don’t get...
Read moreI’m posting here to provide updates to anyone looking at recent reviews. Especially those in recent months. Our stay started on Christmas Day 2023 and lasted into Feb 18th, 2024. We love PCV and have been coming here since right after they opened in 1975. ||The RV park is open to all forms of motor homes and trailers. There was a review recently that stated Class B motorhome aren’t allowed. They are indeed allowed and the only explanation I can give is that perhaps a misinformed new hire in the reservation department stated that. PCV recently changed their phone and reservation system. There was issues with the online system and that was put on pause momentarily, but I see it was opened up today to request a reservation on line. The phone system has been corrected too, so hopefully the wait times will be minimal unless you call on the 1st of the month when the 6 month release dates happen. Then expect to be in a queue line. It’s been that way forever, only before it was a busy signal, now you are placed in a queue with a count down as to your number in the queue. ||The park has added wonderful palm tree lighting around the park, fire pit patio tables in the square by the on-site public restaurant, weekend activities for all. The recent King Tide washed away much of the dunes outside of the RV park and for the most part as of this date, you can walk directly out to the beach. The store has been revamped with all sorts of supplies. The lagoon/stream on the north side is running more like a small stream again, however, good o’ Mother Nature controls its flow, and where it flows. All of us who visit PCV regularly are enjoying the ability to walk straight out to the beach. Many, many years ago it was that way too, so only time will tell how long it will stay that way, and you can’t control Mother Nature. ||PCV is also a great place to watch any Vandenberg launches that happen quite frequently if you watch SpaceX launch schedule. Loads of good places to eat, all around and within walking distance. ||PCV is wonderful place to stay so, please give them a second chance if you had a bad experience in...
