I actually think she did this on purpose after reading the salon response to this review. The reason Google wont allow you to post other peoples photos is a lack of consent. (you Do Not have my consent to use my photos, name or any personal info) just like I did not consent you using my name in your retaliatory response after choosing to omit it in my review detailing my experiences. I have been cordial, never bubbly as that isn't my personality, to Jamie, and carried on conversations each time I was in her chair, ironically the last time we talked about extensions (which I now need thanks to her). When she has asked me for feedback each cut I have asked for tweaks to get the style more to my liking (2nd and 3rd cut, 1st was fine) but disgruntled is an insane comment from someone I have never actually met, let alone Jamie, who will intentionally give you a bad cut if she doesn't like you. Reading through reviews again, negative reviews are indicative of the experience I had and the salon response to any negative review is combative and retaliatory instead of accountable every single time.
My review is not far fetched at all, it is accurate and I hate leaving reviews but Jamie ruined my hair and was extremely rude to me in the process. A week later I am still beside myself about this cut. I dont know to grow it out to fix it, it will be a 2 year process at least and after loosing so much hair in Covid and finally getting it back after years of effort and special care, this is heartbreaking. I asked for no more than 1.5 inches off curtain bangs and face framing layers. She cut more than 3 inches off my hair and gave me some weird shag style cut. When she asked me midway what I thought I calmly said she cut too much hair off and too much into the sides, she was visibly annoyed and said it would look better after I washed it and then asserted that I should find a stylist "who can cut my hair the way I like".
She did not even give me a good shag haircut, the ends are uneven, there are chunks cut out all over my head, she took off a significant amount of length and did the opposite of what was asked. Its one thing to cut someone's hair the way they ask and then be disappointed if they don't like it, it is another thing to not do what they ask, cut way too much length, and then tell them to go find a hairdresser who cuts their hair how they like it. I did get a full refund from the salon but I can't get the several years of growth back that she cut off my hair and her lack of acknowledgement of what she did is not acceptable. She has also consistently been inconsiderate about start time, scrolling on her phone after the appointment start time in the breakroom (I've seen it twice and once waited so long I went to ask someone if she was there only to find her on her phone in the breakroom) and coming out several minutes after to clean her area from the previous client, not because she is still with a client. 3x is a pattern of disregard for clients time.
She has cut my hair 3 times, while she has never done an amazing job, the first two cuts were "fine", both under 20 minutes, first was very minimal like a get to know you cut, second I asked for some layers in the back and she decided to give someone with wavy hair chunky layers, totally contrary to any logic for a dry salon but didn't take a lot of length off so decided to return and ended up floored by what she did this last haircut. Her good reviews had me come back, but the fact is, the cut was worse each time, she became less thoughtful with listening to what I asked for, and her demeanor was less cordial. I wish her the exact same haircut experience I just had on the receiving end since she thinks it...
Read moreI have had 3 really wonderful haircuts at Alchemy. Unfortunately, I was in the emergency room this past Tuesday and was unable to get to my appointment. The owner charged me the full price for my haircut, not just the 50% fee that they claim they will charge on their website for a late cancellation. Despite me sending proof of being in a medical emergency, AND proof that I called to cancel, they recorded it as a no-call; no-show and charged me the full fee. This full fee was more expensive than my ER copay. The owner claims that I cancelled several appointments, and I have rescheduled appointments (through their app), but weeks in advance. She is hiding behind this as a reason to charge my card, unauthorized, for services that I did not receive. After several emails back and forth, the best the owner is willing to offer me is to credit 50% of the fee toward a future appointment. But after this unprofessional treatment, I would rather never deal with them again. I have disputed the charge with my credit card company.
Edited after the owner's reply: I have yet to receive the 50% refund that she mentioned, and since I did call to cancel, their website states it would be a 50% fee. I am not sure why she keeps insisting that she should keep all of my money for zero services rendered.
About cancelled appointments:
April 1 - needed to change the time, for my appointment on 4/1 but you weren't available at other times, so changed the appointment to April 15th and then changed it back to April 1st with a different stylist. All of this happened within 5 minutes through your app, weeks in advance. The end effect was I just changed my appointment time on April 1.
May 20 - I neither had, nor cancelled an appointment. I had an appointment May 27th which was attended and not cancelled.
August 5 I had a work conflict and let you know a week in advance and changed it to August 18.
Jan 19 - tested positive for covid, 24 hours notice given (called within minutes of getting my covid test, the afternoon on the day before my appointment).
Feb 7 -...
Read moreI came in this shop expecting to leave a brand new man, a man ready to dominate this past summer with a fresh cut except I was left a disappointed, angry and sad man. I came here with very high expectations as they have a very high review and price for there haircuts. I got one of the most atrocious haircuts known to man, crippling my confidence and self image. Before the appointment, I was working on myself, my health, my study, my image, but all of that was crushed in less than an hour. I wanted to look like a sexy korean man, yet I left looking like a middle aged chinese man from the early 2000's. I have no idea why I thought I could become anew just from a haircut but I hoped, hoping I would be blessed by my barber to become a ABG slayer but my dreams were crushed. I grew out my hair for six months, waiting for the day my hair would be graced upon god, but again all of that was crushed in less than an hour. With a sixty-five dollar price point, if you are an asian male with a round face, look elsewhere, as you will be disappointed like me. I will not name any names for respect, but I will take this as a learning experience and come back a new man with a haircut that will be out of this world. Thank you for reading my review. Have a good day. (If I could get a refund that would be great XD) It's been 49 minutes and I can't even look at myself in the mirror, am I just ugly or is it the haircut. I can't tell anymore. Please god help me as I am facing a difficult times in my life. Edit: it’s been 3 days and I’ve never been more angry in my life, they ruined my life for the next 2 months, I can’t walk outside being ashamed of my hair. My thick long hair was apart of my identity, it was a way for me to connect with my Asian, it was wiped away and now I have to be someone whom I’m not. Edit: 6 months later and the remnants of the haircuts burn...
