There aren't many shops that I would trust with $5 for shot of espresso, but during coffee week, their specialty shot was mind-blowing. I was a barista for several years, and this is the only place in town that makes me want to get behind the counter again. Respect!
I love this place. It's exactly what I want a coffee house to be. Like most normal people, I judge a diner by their Reuben, a cocktail bar by their negroni, and a coffee house by their ristretto. If you like coffee for coffee, this is the shop for you.
Just because you sling premium roasters, doesn't mean your baristas are doing it justice. Not a concern here. Espresso a Mano is either exclusively hiring experience or has a great training program. Pulling an espresso shot is not hard. Most people can do it fairly reliably with a little practice. The consistency here is amazing. In my experience, what separates mid-tier shops from the best is the comfort level of the baristas with adjusting the grinders for changes in coffee or environmental factors. It's equal parts art and science. The fact that I've never had a bad shot here tells me someone knows what...
Read moreI have visited many coffee houses. Some of which are considered top in the country for roasting beans and making a great cup of coffee. Espresso A Mano has been my favorite spot to get a cup of coffee by far. 👏 5 Reasons you should visit Espresso A Mano: They roast their own coffee (and it’s pretty damn good). 🔥 The owner is passionate and knowledgeable about his product. He even spent time chatting with us. 😌 One of the top recommended coffee houses in Pittsburgh by locals. This place has a strong following. 🙌 Supports other local businesses, such as selling fresh pastries from a local bakery. 🥐 The owner was even humble enough to recommend other local coffee houses that we should visit while in Pittsburgh. 🤗 Can’t miss trying coffee from here! We would recommend trying: cortado (equal parts espresso and steamed milk), a cappuccino, and an iced chai with almond milk! Fun fact: my boyfriend and I never try just one thing when we try coffee. It’s almost always 3 items or...
Read moreI had been meaning to visit this place for a while because I had heard a lot of good stuff about the coffee. I went on a weekend afternoon and the place was buzzing. Thankfully, they were quite still a few places available to sit down. They have a couple of chairs outdoors as well. If you like to enjoy the sun while sipping on your coffee. The coffee itself was okay. I got my usual iced latte, and I always ask for honey as a sweetener in my latte. Unfortunately, since it is an iced drink, one needs to mix the honey with some hot water and make syrup before adding to the coffee. They did not do that, and as a result, all of the honey was coagulated at the bottom of the drink, making the drink overall quite better. This was such a bummer because in general, the coffee tasted quite great. The atmosphere in general was quite nice and lively, and I could see myself coming here with friends...
