I took a walk through Market Square the other day and I thought to myself my has it changed, there's a lot of different restaurants a few Italian American, and some of those healthy food type restaurants. I didn't see any Chinese but someone told me there is a great place, the Chinatown Inn about a 10 to 15 minute walk Market Square. I find that a great traditional look at Market square has changed armor and that's changed the people who come to visit. It still has that nice diversity crowd that it attracts, but the entertainment and other words the live entertainment is lacking and the restaurant service appears to be a little break. Received very few welcomes from the new restaurants and thanks for coming and come back again greets. Most of the food looked as though it has been sitting for awhile in the display windows in all of the restaurants and I went into coma either the business was slow or the workers just didn't feel like making fresh display . Anyway if you're not happy with Market Square I ordered you to check out a wonderful Station Square in the North Shore will find much better quality restaurant and customer service. There's always great specials and a great atmosphere 4 walking around and enjoying a night out for the evening. I heard you check out Pittsburgh Cultural District when you have some free time. They've got some great entertainment and nightly theater...
Read moreNeed better entertainment and vendors. Families can't enjoy cultural and enriching events that costsl 100 percent times the actual value. It was Labor Day and the Soul Food Festival had little to offer families and children and our youth. At a time when African Americans still make up most of the lower income class and unemployment we take the lead, vendors are charging outrageous prices and can't give a child under 12 a free hit do? What happened to community support.. Did we forget where we came from? I thought I was at a fine dining restaurant when I looked at the prices. I honestly was in tears when I saw a group of teenage boys come into Five Guys to sit and cool off. They could not afford to eat. All they had was a free bus pass given to them by the school district to make an effort and come downtown to enjoy the events. There were no samplers or free Kool aid or punch or even water to help their thirst. I remember when black people helped each other. Now all these festivals are just a way to monopolize and not support at all. It's become a commercial playground where there is no limit on pricing. T.M.DAMS 08.01.2024...
Read moreMarket Square is an open public space surrounded by restaurants and shops, located at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Market Street. The area has long been a meeting spot for Pittsburgh residents and it's where the city's first courthouse and first jail were built.
these days- its pedestrian-only square is the grounds for many community-building events and festivals
of course, summertime is fun here. Typical summer events like any downtown include farmer's markets, fashion truck pop-ups, and outdoor yoga classes, so yeah if you are downtown, go through this.
Square is even not as big as you see in major downtowns, but yeah its good to have one rather than none. We had a few bites here, jerk chicken. it was so-so, like 5/10. There are limited on-street parking options near Market Square, but there are plenty of garages in the area.
It's a short walk from the Wood Street, Gateway, and Steel Plaza metro stations and many buses stop nearby as well. It's free to stroll around the area, and many public events held in the square are free...
