This was pretty much the worse hotel stay we have ever had. Staff unfriendly. I shall say most, especially the manager lady, who sits in the office near the counter. Not once did she make eye contact with me or say hi. None of the staff greeted us with a good morning or hi the entire 11 days we stayed there. Pathetic. The room refrig door was broken, the lights in the bathroom flickered. Minimal pots and pans or utensils or cooking wear. This is suppose to be a Homewood suites with a kitchen... To cook! We ended up not cooking once, because we just couldn't. The walls of the hotel was thin. Each time the neighbors flushed their toilet, it was a like an extremely loud waterfall sound reverberating in our bedroom. Woke us up every night and morning. I could hear every foot step from upstairs. I called the front desk to address it and they told me its not quite hours yet so they cant address it. Are you kidding me... Just call the unit and ask them to be quieter. I emailed my concerns to corporate and did not get any response. This was just pathetic. The sanitizer machines were empty on floor 2 for over 2 days. There just isnt any quality control at this Homewood Suites. We paid for parking and when we checked in the manager and front desk told us we couldnt park in the building because they had extended stay customers who park in there. Why would that matter, I paid for parking and I should be able to part in the building. I felt riped off. I was told to part outside in the open unsecured lot parking. I dont know if this is just this Homewood suites or all... but I dont plan on staying at a Hilton and for sure a Homewood Suites any time...

Parking is absurd for a building with 7 floors. There is a two level parking garage with not many parking spaces. They will give you a pass if you need it for overflow into the service lot next door. They will not tell you this, but when you check out and go home, the next day they will charge your card an additional 40 dollars for parking, so be aware.

The lobby was nice and the receptionist was very helpful and personable. However, when we got to our first assigned room (218) it completely smacked us in the face with the smell of body odor. We went back downstairs and asked to be moved to another room, which smelled equally strange but not like BO. So we decided not to be Karen's and complain again and just stayed.

The water pressure was DECENT at best in the shower, but there was absolutely no hot water coming out of there. We took cold showers for 2 days. Also the shower design is made to be aestetically pleasing, but the design is faulty and allows water to splash onto the bathroom floor. By the time you're done, even after a cold 5 minute shower, the floor is soaked. So ask for extra towels.

There also is no ice located anywhere already ready to go. Our room had a fridge so there was an ice maker inside of it, but to use it, you have to turn it on. We were not told that so we had to turn it on and wait for ice.

The elevators take a very long time to get to you, so we used the stairs the entire time.

I guess that's really it. Lol.

We hid a blunt in the back of the building by the parking entrance in the alley under a cinder block. It's probably still there if you go find...

My cumulative rating is a 3.5 based on the three times we have stayed at this hotel in the past year, including last Tuesday night. It is more expensive than some other Hilton hotels in Pittsburgh and I’m guessing the location is the reason. It is conveniently located near the strip district and downtown. We love walking down to the strip district, and we even find street parking overnight nearby. My issue is with the rooms. The first night we stayed there, the air conditioning was blowing on me from the wall vent often on all night long and we didn’t wanna turn off the AC because it was hot out. The room also smelled like dogs, because Hilton allows dogs in their hotel rooms, but doesn’t always get the smell of them out. The second time we stayed we had a large room and it was awesome but again it smelled like dogs. I have an allergy to dogs so it’s very concerning to me. The most recent time, this week, the room smelled like dog urine, the faucet in the bathroom was impossible to turn on and made a very loud squeaking noise when you finally got it to work. And the shower handle broke off in the shower. So although it is a nice hotel, and in a nice location, it is a little rundown and in need of renovation or deep cleaning and my suggestion to Hilton is that they have the dogs stay on the first three floors and keep the upper floors free of dogs for people who do not have dogs and don’t want their rooms to smell like them when they’re paying a lot of money...
