I only go here for Tekko. My main thoughts is that there is A LOT of walking required from exhibit hall space to panel rooms, so if you have any difficulty walking long distances for an event, bring a wheelchair or rent a mobility scooter.
If you are going here for an event, if your main area is panel rooms or the main stage on the 3rd floor, the closest hotel is Westin which is connected by a skywalk. If your main area is the exhibit hall, Drury Plaza is the closest by walking outside.
Overall, there are many restrooms, sitting areas and water fountains and food vendors so you're able to not leave the building if you're willing to spend the money. I would say that I was trying to find a cup of ice and if you're at a nearby hotel, it's faster to just fill an ice bucket and bring it back😆 they had paid cups of ice at Tasteburger in the exhibit hall though if you're desperate.
I didn't have to park since I flew in & was staying at a hotel, but Greyhound station isn't too far and has the most affordable parking available on a budget.
My main issue with the con center is that they didn't let Tekko use the TV screens in front of the panel rooms to let people know about the current events happening for the day. Idk if they just didn't offer it, but it was...
Read moreMostly a nice space for a large meeting, with a variety of room sizes and layouts, a nice views over the river.
I would give it five stars except for an incredible failure of traffic flow analysis. When an event lets out and a significant fraction of the thousands of people there want to go to or through the Westin, is that traffic all has to go through a single pair of elevators, or back to the far side of the convention center and then walk two blocks outside. There is at least one conveniently located staircase, but the doors lock you in the staircase and you have to go downstairs and set off the fire alarm to get out (this according to the appropriate and prominent signs, I didn't try it).
Even if some events want the stairs locked, there should at least be some way for an event to request that these be unlocked so that some traffic can take the stairs and reduce waiting time for those elevators. If this is in fact possible but my event didn't request it, or if there is some other route that I didn't know about, I will increase my rating but request that the information staff be better trained about routes in...
