This hotel was booked due to a conference that I was attending all week. I arrived early and did not have any trouble getting into a room. I was not greeted as a Marriott Bonvoy member. Although I don’t have elite status, it would’ve been nice to still be greeted as a member. Upon entering the room, I noticed that it was very dated. The nightstand was chipped in the table beside the couch was severely scratched. The carpet had not been vacuumed thoroughly as I found goldfish crackers under one of the tables. Now let’s get to the bathroom… it was gross! There was a mat in the tub that was molded and had mildew around the edges. The covering of the drain overflow hole was not securely on which showed the mold and mildew behind it. I took pictures to show the front desk and requested for housekeeping to come to clean the bathroom. Even after cleaning the tub still was nasty! 🤢 the Water would get under the tub mat making it raise when I showered, so I had to stand at the back of the tub to prevent the water from covering my feet. Luckily anytime I travel, I take a shower in flip-flops to keep my feet from touching the bottom of the tub. Let’s not mention the size of the bathroom-it was extremely small! There was only about a 2 inch clearance between the toilet and the door when it was open and less than a 6 inch clearance between the toilet and the tub. Additionally, the shower had a curtain which is not very sanitary. However, I sprayed it down Clorox disinfecting mist which I also used on the bed. I also used Clorox wipes to wipe down all surfaces of the room including the headboard, door knobs, and remote control. Some of the other people in my cohort had other issues with the hotel, including AC and reserved room type. Overall, the staff was very friendly and professional. However, the hotel needs to be updated. I travel a lot and usually choose the other leading hotel brands where I am accustomed to a much higher standard of accommodations. I’m not sure if this is a corporate-owned or franchised hotel; however, more attention to upkeep/maintenance and cleanliness needs to be closely examined.

Visited Pittsburgh over the weekend and had the opportunity to stay at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center. As the name suggests, the hotel is conveniently located in Downtown Pittsburgh, within a reasonable walking distance to all the sights and attractions that brought me to The Steel City. The hotel appears to have been recently updated and looks to be in good condition. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a great view of the city. Even though the hotel was packed, I heard very little noise from the hall or connecting rooms during my stay. The bathroom was also updated; light and bright, with adequate water pressure. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. I opted to valet; $40 / day. The valet staff were also friendly and efficient. There were a few negatives. Like other high rise hotels, the elevators are used heavily and during peak hours, there’s a wait. I waited about 10 minutes to get downstairs - not a big deal, but plan accordingly. The hot water was mildly frustrating and also something to plan for, as it took about 5 minutes of running the shower to bring the water to temperature. Again, not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of. Lastly, was The Steelhead - the onsite restaurant. My stay included breakfast, which otherwise is $21 / person. If not included with your room, I would not recommend paying separately for The Steelhead. It’s a basic continental breakfast, with pastries, eggs, bacon, fruit, and an omelette bar. Not bad, but also not worth the cost. The staff members were overwhelmed and failed to maintain the buffet or keep up with patrons. Everything there seemed chaotic. Skip this one - there are far better options outside of the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Marriott. As mentioned, it’s clean, comfortable, and accommodating; while also being competitively priced. If visiting Pittsburgh, I would recommend this location and look forward to staying at the Marriott during my next visit to Pittsburgh. Thanks!

I am a frequent traveller and have been pretty loyal to the Marriott brand, but hotels like this do not come close to the standards of its other brands as this is more in line with a cheaper brand, not a Marriott. While the room was fine (aside from the shower handle literally falling off), the hotel itself is a disaster. The gym is boiling hot and had a picture that said the AC was being fixed the next day (dated around 3 months prior which they removed after I mentioned it ), and there’s no way to work it, so you have to ask the front desk to fix. They permanently closed the pool as well, and there are out of order signs in the change room/bathrooms (not sure what’s out of order though). The gym itself was also pretty dirty and had garbage all over the floor and it had clearly been a while since the equipment had been cleaned. There were also issues at the restaurant as the servers ignored my daughter, got her order wrong, and it ended up being 45 minutes for her to get an order of fries. This was also experienced on the last day where my wife waited 15 minutes after being seated in the restaurant but her server never came and she couldn’t get the attention of anyone who worked there and ended up leaving. There were other issues, but since they were more minor, I won’t list them. I will say that the Valet was prompt although it costs 40/day (otherwise you pay 15) for each in/out), and one of the managers was very understanding when I brought me issues of the gym up.

I recently had an overnight stay at The Marriott City Center Pittsburgh, and overall, my experience was quite positive. From the moment I arrived, the check-in process was smooth and hassle-free. However, what truly made my stay exceptional were the outstanding individuals at the front desk. Will, Raeshawn, and Jasmine were the best part of my experience. Will's delightful sense of humor and willingness to assist were evident, while Raeshawn impressed me with her authenticity, warm smile, and genuine dedication to her responsibilities. Jasmine, too, was simply kind and knowledgeable, providing excellent service during my stay.

The hotel lobby itself is quite grand, giving off an impressive first impression. However, I believe the rooms could match this level of sophistication. While my room had a fantastic view and an updated bathroom, the overall aesthetic was underwhelming. The carpet had an unappealing pattern, and the beds easily separated from their frames, which was a bit inconvenient. The furniture was basic, and the room setup felt small and lacking in charm. Additionally, as a left-handed individual, the lamps sealed to the desk posed a slight problem. Perhaps, more attention could be given to accommodating different guest needs.

Furthermore, I found it questionable that the windows in my room on the 18th floor were able to open to a significant extent (approximately 4 inches). Considering the height, I believe it would be safer if the windows were fixed shut. That being said, I must admit that the view from my room, specifically room 1824, was undeniably breathtaking.

In terms of dining, I had the pleasure of experiencing both dinner and breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. The food was delicious, and during dinner, I was served by Mike, who provided top-notch service. The buffalo chicken wings and fries were exactly what I needed. For breakfast, the buffet was exceptional and could rival some of the best in my opinion. Ron Gilbert, the director of outlets, was attentive and anticipated my needs, and Henry, who assisted me at the buffet, was also incredibly helpful, kind, and always ready to assist.

Check-out at The Marriott City Center Pittsburgh is at noon, providing ample time for a stress-free departure.

Despite the mixed experience with the room, the exceptional service from the staff, especially Will, Raeshawn, Jasmine, Mike, Ron Gilbert, and Henry, consistently went above and beyond to ensure that my time at The Marriott City Center Pittsburgh was valued. Because of the outstanding service and overall positive experience, I would absolutely choose to stay here again...

My room was nice. The service at the desk was nice. My experience however was overshadowed by the EXTREMELY RUDE treatment that we received in the restaurant. There were 5 families and we were traveling with our 15-year-old daughters. The girls play together on a travel volleyball team. The parents were in the restaurant and we ordered food and drinks. For the girls, we ordered pizza to be delivered. When the pizza arrived we told the girls to come downstairs and join us in the restaurant in order to eat their pizza. The restaurant staff quickly informed us that there was no outside food allowed in the restaurant. We apoligized and told the girls to return to the hotel room to eat the pizza. No problem. One of the parents was not staying in the hotel and her daughter was back at their hotel (not Marriott). The mom had ordered a small personal pizza for her daughter which she was going to give to her later. The mom tried to put the pizza in her bag but it didn't fit so she just left it on the seat next to her in the restaurant. The "manager" of the restaurant told the mom that she couldn't have that pizza in the restaurant. The mom explained that she was not eating it and that she was going to take it to her daughter later but the manager insisted that she either get rid of the pizza or she (the mom) would have to leave the restaurant. This led to complete mayhem! The manager's behavior was extremely rude and unecessary. The staff was insulting and threatening. The mom explained again and again that she was not going to eat the pizza in the restaurant but she was forced to leave after the manager called security to have her escorted out! I am a gold member but that mom is a Platinum and is a few points short of the titanium level. I could not BELIEVE how we were being treated simply because a mom had some food in a box that she was going to take to her daughter later. I have to travel to Pitt later in the season for a volleyball event and as much as I liked my room and the treatment that I received from the desk, I would never stay here again because of how we were treated in...
