PPG Paints Arena is a fantastic venue that showcases the best of live sports and entertainment in Pittsburgh. I’ve had the pleasure of attending two incredible shows there—Lady Gaga and Madonna—and I was thoroughly impressed by the overall experience each time.
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was electric. The arena is well-designed, providing great sightlines from nearly every seat, which ensures that all attendees can enjoy the action up close, whether it's a Penguins hockey game or a concert. The acoustics are excellent, enhancing the experience for live performances and creating an immersive environment.
One of the standout features of PPG Paints Arena is its modern amenities. The concourse is spacious and clean, with a variety of food and beverage options that cater to different tastes. I appreciated the selection of local vendors, which adds a nice touch and allows visitors to sample some Pittsburgh favorites. The staff throughout the arena were friendly and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Having seen both Lady Gaga and Madonna perform there, I can attest to how well-prepared and organized the arena is for major events. Each show ran smoothly, with clear signage and efficient crowd management, making it easy to navigate and find our seats. The energy during both performances was fantastic, and the arena truly knows how to create a vibrant atmosphere for live music.
The seating is comfortable, and the arena's layout makes it easy to navigate. Whether you're attending with family or friends, the venue fosters a sense of community and excitement. I particularly enjoyed the pre-show activities and the lively atmosphere leading up to the main events.
Additionally, the arena is conveniently located near downtown Pittsburgh, making it easy to access and explore the surrounding area before or after the event. Parking options are available, though it's wise to arrive early, as it can get busy on game or event nights.
Overall, PPG Paints Arena is a top-notch venue that offers a memorable experience for sports fans and concertgoers alike. With its excellent facilities, friendly staff, and vibrant atmosphere, it’s a fantastic place to catch a live event. I highly recommend checking out an event at PPG Paints Arena—whether you're a local or just visiting, it’s sure to be...
Read moreWe were completely taken aback by the outcome of our long journey to go see the Mariah Carey concert on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the PPG Paints Arena located at 1001 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After driving for what felt like an eternity—over three and a half hours and more than 376 miles there and back—we finally arrived at the PPG Paints Arena. We entered the Manor Complex Garage at 564 Forbes Avenue and parked the car, a wave of relief washing over us since the exhausting drive was finally behind us. We were excited, believing we had beaten the crowd by arriving early, but that excitement quickly began to fade as we made our way toward the arena.
As we walked for about 10 minutes, we noticed the absence of barricades or long lines, which led us to assume we had approached the back of the arena. We decided to walk around to the front, but to our dismay, there was no one there. Feeling a sense of unease, we returned to the other side, only to spot a police officer on a motorcycle. Hoping for some clarity, we approached him to ask if there was an event taking place at the PPG Paints Arena that evening.
The officer’s response felt like a punch to the gut: the concert was canceled due to the performer’s unexpected illness. We stood there in disbelief, our minds racing. We had driven so far, made extensive arrangements, and all for nothing. Speechless, we walked toward the administrative office, clinging to a dwindling hope that we had misunderstood.
However, our hopes were shattered when we saw the signs taped to the door—one stated, “Tonight’s show with Mariah Carey has been canceled,” while the other informed fans about refund options and who to contact if they didn’t receive an email. The weight of reality hit us as we processed the devastating news. Heartbroken, we turned to make the long trek back to our car, each step becoming heavier as we mentally prepared ourselves for the...
Read moreLet me start off by saying we love the Pittsburgh Penguins and try to attend a few games each year. I've always considered PPG to be more of a premium venue for sporting events and concerts. The higher prices reflect that premium experience, but I've always been happy to pay a little more for a nicer time. Unfortunately, tonight, we saw a not-so-nice side of PPG.
We saw a concert this evening and had a very negative experience. The two men seated next to us were very visibly drunk from the moment they arrived—stumbling, slurring speech, and acting belligerent. The men were making my wife uncomfortable, and were obviously bothering other guests as well. At one point, the more drunk of the two had his shoes off and was rubbing his feet on another viewer. They were spilling drinks, tripping, and bumping people. This all finally came to an ugly head when the man began vomiting all over himself and the floor/seats. Not long after they excused themselves and employees came soon after to clean up their mess.
If this was some sort of outdoor summer event in general admission, I could be more understanding of this behavior, but PPG is not that. The issue is that these men were admitted entrance VERY obviously intoxicated, and then were overserved once in the arena. It's shocking to me that in all their trips to buy beer and stumbling all over, nobody noticed? Nobody noticed how intoxicated they were when serving them more beer? Nobody saw them spilling drinks and bothering folks?
Now, any person could've opened their mouth to an usher or employee about their actions, but I also think any observant employee could've taken one look at them and known they had no business being admitted in the first place.
It makes you think twice about dropping big money on an event night when your night may be potentially ruined by others who weren't held accountable. Please...
