I'll be blunt. I'm not sure what Club Pittsburgh is trying to be (bathhouse, dance club, or otherwise) but integrating both the downstairs after-party area on the 2nd floor with the rest of the building is really compromising the "bathhouse energy" (lack of a better term) that you get from other bathhouses around the country.
If you are a cis gay man trying get laid in a gay bathhouse setting, this place will not provide it. It was hard enough when one had to compete with other cis gay men (muscled, twink, and/or young) but now you have to compete with cis & TS women while getting gawked at by the same women on a typical Friday/Saturday.
It doesn't help when one hears "OH MY GOD!" from a random Becky who can't control her reactions when people are trying to get laid in the 3rd floor darkroom one minute while hearing full blown conversations the next minute.
You know that feeling when a gay bar gets catered and dominated by bachelorette parties which then completely ruins the vibes of the gay bar? That is what Club Pittsburgh is going through right now. It's like if you went to Steamworks in Chicago or NY Eagle while knee deep in men and all of a sudden a gaggle of women (and their sassy gay best friend) shows up laughing and pointing at you because they never seen people getting laid before. It's that feeling.
The old days of the bathhouse is dead here replaced by whatever I saw during my last couple of visits. Trust me when I say you'll have a better time going to the surrounding male-dominated campgrounds (Freedom Valley, Camp Davis, Circle JJ Ranch) than Club Pittsburgh.
And for the sake of balance so I'm not a complete Negative Nancy, the staff has always treated me nice, I'm glad the steam room is working again, their gym is quite clean, and the 5th floor does have a nice view.
Sadly, the old Club Pittsburgh of years...

People left me alone, and those that I did interacted with were 'appropriately civil'. It wasn't jammed packed but there were enough people there to mind your steps. The room was clean, a small wall mounted TV, a sideways mirror, an end table, and a hook or two on the wall for a jacket. Simple, pratical, and affordable! The key locked the door perfectly (I left my valubales in the car) but intentionally left things in my room while I enjoyed my self guided tour. Everything was were I left it upon each of my returns to my room (a total of seven). The bathrooms were clean (smelled like moldy water a bit ... the smell of only a moderately adequately ventelated basement ... like most in Pgh.) but otherwise the hot water ran hot (open shower). I didn't get in the whirlpool/jacuzzi but plenty of people did (so it works), as does the steam room (but the suana was out of order). There is a fully encloused outdoor sitting area on a partially concealed roof top where you can vibe outside as well as breath and pollute the fresh air (no smoking indoors). Once you have your locker or room its yours, visit the site; great walkthrough(s). A great place for a small or large afterparty or beforeparty or duringparty ... It's Club Pittsburgh ... its always a...
Read moreAttended Club Pittsburgh for a party with a couple of friends. A nice location with good amenities, but had repeated issues with the behavior of the staff. We experienced repeated incidents of body shaming and snide comments from the staff during the night. Did not feel like a fully accepting LGBTQ+ space despite the signage. Would not recommend.
One of my friends was also almost kicked out. He had been asking about the lockers to store our stuff and was wondering if he could wait for one at the desk. We had been waiting for over an hour for a locker and knew people were storing stuff somewhere. Staff threatened to kick him out over waiting by the desk and repeatedly told him to store stuff in a locker (yet couldnt wait for one), but then we were not allowed a locker as we were there for the party and not Club Pittsburgh. The staff then escalated and called security. Took security, who was very rude, getting called on him to find out there was a separate room that was available for the party goers. After my friend passed by security, he tried to apologize. The security guard decided to use this as an opportunity to make fun...
