Two thumbs up, five stars, and A+ all the way for Row House Cinema! They get the things right that patrons need: eclectic film selections, friendly and helpful customer service, lots of brews to drink while watching your movie, yummy popcorn with real butter (that's important stuff, folks), all designed to bring you into their cozy 80-plus seat theater.

The movies are typically grouped into themed weeks, and their choices are wonderfully unpredictable. From sci-fi to anime, Robin Williams to Schwarzenegger, Spielberg to Kurosawa, it's all in the mix. Come enjoy sell-out shows of films as diverse as 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, MY NEIGHBOR TUTORO, and BLADE RUNNER with audiences that appreciate the experience. Even the movie trailers are made by their staff. This is about as independent as local business gets!

Row House is available for rental, in case you'd like to host an event there or show a movie of your choosing privately for guests (do it -- it's a LOT of fun!). You'll even get a customized marquee with it and the staff will bend over backwards to accommodate you. I did this for my birthday and it went over big time!

Cautions: when they're busy, they're BUSY, and you may have to wait to get your movie tickets and concessions. Also, as diverse as their selections are, they still cater to a specific audience. It would be nice to see movie theme weeks which show an appeal to people outside of Lawrenceville and other demographics. We'll give it time and see if our favorite local theater continues to grow.

In the meantime, it's lights, camera, and action...roll on down to Row House and have a seat. Just don't try taking mine...it's the one with...

I have yet to STEP FOOT Inside The "ROW HOUSE CINEMA" on BUTLER Street in LAWRENCEVILLE. My Family & I lived on the 2nd & 3rd Floor of a house on 43rd Street. On BUTLER Street there was a GREAT OLD MOVIE THEATRE called The "ARSENAL" Theatre. When We lived on 43rd Street, My Mom or Dad would take me around the CORNER to see whatever Movie that was PLAYING at the time at The "ARSENAL". Well, MAYBE NOT every Movie that WAS PLAYING, but if it was APPROPRIATE, I'd see it. When The "ARSENAL" was PURCHASED & TORN DOWN, I felt LOST w/o a "MOVIE HOUSE" to go to. I would take a STREETCAR & later a BUS to EITHER DOWNTOWN PGH or to EAST LIBERTY to see MOVIES. When I heard that a "MOVIE THEATRE" was COMING TO LAWRENCEVILLE, I was VERY HAPPY. LAWRENCEVILLE'S Changing into an UPSCALE PLACE to LIVE & a MOVIE HOUSE was going to be a WELCOMED ADDITION to the NEIGHBORHOOD. The "ROW HOUSE CINEMA" has a VERY IMPRESSIVE LIST of "NOW PLAYING" Movies & "COMING ATTRACTION" Movies. I've talked to a FEW FRIENDS who've gone to the BUTLER Street location to see their Films & I've heard of HOW NICE IT IS. I've seen pictures & heard on HOW NICE & COMFORTABLE the OWNERS have made it into an ENJOYABLE MOVIE GOING EXPERIENCE FOR ALL MOVIE LOVERS. My Wife & I do...

Very nice theater especially for seeing old favorites (we saw fifth Element and enjoyed watching it like we would have when it came out) however fair warning for those who are wider around- the seats are pretty snug and the space between seats is close so you may be a little uncomfortable. My husband is a larger set guy (built like a linebacker) and he was uncomfortable and tight fit into the seats. However for me I was fine. The sound quality was good and I know next time to do the couch seats for more comfort. We enjoyed our seats that were direct middle! Also the popcorn is a must and the beer/cider on tap was awesome. we did not take advantage of the discount if you take your stub and go over to the beer house right...

Row House is one of my favorite theatres! I like experiencing older movies on a big screen, it really makes them so much more new and exciting. They have great concessions and they're attached to Bierport so you can actually go in and pick which beer cans you want to be chilled so you can drink them during your movie which is a really interesting perk. They also offer draft beers at their concession stand as well as some fun things like ice cream and pickle pop corn. It's a place you go if you want a movie that's really an experience and I'm happy to frequent it 💖

Nice ambience, they play some of the most classic movies in cinema. Bierport is good, but expensive. Their popcorn is tasty but they literally have the most uncomfortable seating lol. I hate to take a star away, but it is really bad. By the end of most movies your body and knees will be killing you. I once watched a 3 hour Japanese film that was a favorite, and I almost cried cause of my knees in those cramped seats and the pinching sides by the end. Don't the owners or staff ever have to sit in their own theater seating?! Lol.
