Hey, we are Vicky 🇵🇪 and Malte 🇩🇪 from the travel blog "Traveling Is Our Passion." For a full one-day Pittsburgh guide, check out our blog. The Upper Incline Scenic Overlook is a fantastic place to get a breathtaking view of Pittsburgh! Located near the top of Mount Washington, you’ll see the whole city, with its iconic bridges, skyscrapers, and rivers. It’s a great spot for a photo, especially when you can capture both the city and the river in one shot. The overlook is accessible via the Duquesne Incline, which is a fun and historic way to get up the mountain. Once you’re at the top, you’ll find a viewing platform where you can enjoy the view at your own pace. It’s also a great spot for a picnic. If you're in the city, this is a must-visit spot for anyone who wants a unique and stunning view of Pittsburgh!

Nice view of the city, bridges and rivers from the observation deck. The incline ride is $2.50 each way. It looks like fun. I heard 2 stories of the origin of this ride. The first version was that it was built to make it easier for mine workers to get up and down the hill. The second version was that the city was looking for a source of revenue and that many of the miners would rather hike up and down the hill than pay for the ride. So the ride operator hired people to dress up in scary costumes and hang out near the walking path to make people think the walking path was haunted. This supposedly increased ridership.

What an incredible spot to truly grasp and see The Pittsburgh skyline. A great place for photo opportunities, absolutely beautiful view, and was a huge one of the highlights of my trip to Pittsburgh. Parking is a little rough to find, luckily I was eating in a place near by so was able to check it out from there. Highly recommended location and street directly behind lined with great places to visit as well - Pubs, Bars, Salon, Tattoos, Ice Creme. A great reward for riding up the nearby Incline. Highly recommended.
