A lot of the lifeguards are douchebags. Which, I guess what do you expect from so many teens (or they at least look teenage)? I've taken my daughter here several times and always somehow manage to have a poor experience with the lifeguards. It's usually just that I don't care for their attitudes, but our last visit finally sealed the deal on not going back. Which sucks because I've been going since I was a kid myself 😭 But, my kiddo wanted to ride the indoor slide and the lifeguard on at the time checked her height and sent her on through. It was her first time and she LOVED it. So she kept going over and over, waiting in line a million times while that particular lifeguard was on duty. Well, the next one comes and she says my girl is too short and refuses her to slide. I express to her that she has literally been going down it repeatedly for the past half an hour with no issue and asked how is she suddenly too short. This chick gave no answers and just stuck with "she doesn't reach height requirement so she can't go" and my kiddo cried the whole walk back down the stairs and outside (she didn't want to be inside anymore). We were able to enjoy the rest of our time outside, but I did go ahead and mention to a desk person that I felt like that was totally unfair and honestly super unprofessional to entirely curb the question and just repeat the statement over and over again. To which they responded, "Sorry, it just depends on the lifeguard you get." In other words, the height check is honestly just for show cause it really comes down to the person themselves. You would think they'd want it uniform across the board?? Hence the height check???? So, I guess, keep in mind when planning your own visit. This was last Summer, but my daughter's birthday is coming up and I have been looking around for a place that offers indoor swimming. Google brought up Oak Point and I recalled this pooooooooor experience so, thought I'd share. Hope everyone else genuinely does...

This is a first rate facility. The price for Plano residents is extremely reasonable. I'm a Collin County resident and pay into Plano schools, but I do not live in the City of Plano, so my cost was a bit higher... but still about half of what it would cost me to join 24-hour fitness. The staff is really friendly. There is plenty of equipment and everything is really clean and well-kept. Available are B-ball courts, racket ball, indoor track, free weights, a circuit training and more. The indoor pool is amazing and is huge with 20 lanes (there is a nice online calendar showing lap-swimming availability, as area high schools use this pool for practice. There are plenty of hours where there are 15 or more lanes available... I've never had to share). I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because I think there could be some small upgrades to the Women's locker room that would not kill the budget. I'd like to see them add some safety-bars to the walls of ALL showers as well as several hooks on the INSIDE where you could hang a coverup and a bag that has shampoo, soap, razor, etc. --- you know, have your stuff where you can see it, rather than on the outside of the shower stall. I'm not handicap, per se, but I'm at an age where I like to hang onto a bar when I'm getting in and out of the shower. There is only one handicap shower with safety bars on the walls. I use it when it's empty... and I might feel a tad guilty about that... but I've seen other "non-handicapped" ladies using it too. It's large, has a place to put your gym bag with clothes, a hand-held nozzle, shower bench and the safety bars on all walls for hanging on ... and, it's large enough to dress in when finished. Anyway... that's a VERY MINOR issue. The facility overall...

My ONE star is for to preschooler program; it is about a particular guy in charge (of preschool kids) - the one that always a a red shirt. Anyway, tried to get him to explain the family restroom rule s but he was really rude about it. The facility only has one family restroom with two showering area. It was explained (my kids have been taking lessons there for months so I know the rules well) that only parent with opposite sex kid over 3 can use that restroom due to the limitations. There are many new parents enrolling each session taking the same sex of kids as them in there. I asked the instructor to go in and explain because many kids were shivering waiting for the two showers. Instead, their parents could have taken them to the male or female side which has many more showers available. He just told me NO that he is not going in there to clarify. Very uncaring, rude and immature to be put in charge of that section in my opinion. Several time I see him flirting with the new girl instructors before starting of the class. Those girls were very inexperienced and always have no idea how to teach compared to other Plano aquatic facilities. The 6-12 years old groups, however, was more organized. The directors were more mature and caring. Instructors in charge of that group also are more experienced and able to really 'teach' the kids compared to...

Introduction to Pickleball Courts in North Dallas: Plano, Frisco, and Allen

This is a review for the outdoor pools only. I went yesterday evening with my 3 and 7 yo’s and they had a blast! It’s different than I expected - no water slides or lazy river, but the wave pool was a hit. The wave pool is a long rectangle with zero entry on two ends and gradually deepens to 3.5’ in the middle. My 3 yo could safely jump waves in the 2’ section and my 7 yo could go wherever he wanted. There were tubes available in the wave pool and life jackets/puddle jumpers too. Both kids loved jumping the waves and swimming through them. There is also a very nice, fairly large splash pad with an overhead area that has water guns you can aim to splash people below you. And there’s a non-wave pool that has water fountains splashing in it my kids enjoyed. We like water park style pools more (like Jack Carter and the Frisco Water Park) but this is a fun option (and costs a little less than the other ones too).

First visit since the long remodel. The indoor obstacle is a great idea. The wave pool and other big kid" options are pretty fun. There was a concession with ice cream somewhere outside the kids found that I didn't see. I was able to go to the observation deck inside and do some work while the kids enjoyed themselves and I could see when they were indoors. I think the remodel looks good, much like the same style overall as it was before but configured differently even inside. The diving and lap pools were the same and the special needs pool was same. There is a stretch of 4 foot water between the slide and the wall ripped off that the kids wanted to practice swimming away from everyone else but were disallowed. Kind of a waste of space as it's very far from the slide exit. Overall, a nice visit and just $3 per kid. Can't beat that price.
