Volunteer Park Community Center — Attraction in Plantation

Great park for all ages. There are multiple play sets that are all nearly within sight range depending on where you sit so kids can be allowed to roam between them. Care and detail was clearly taken with planning the park out as there is something for every age group and even the most active of kids to do. There's even a misting station for hot days.

The only place attention doesn't seem to have been placed was on seating for parents. Benches are mostly in the sun, the shaded wooden fencing areas to lean against are mostly crawling with ants, and there are small pavilions but these are frequently taken over by daycares/parties/play groups. There is a large grassy area that is great for flying a kite or quadcopter, and an extensive great smooth sidewalk running around the park.

For a break from activities there are always plenty of ducks to feed, or other wild life like turtles to observe usually from the bridge. There is even a stable that backs up to the South East portion of the park that especially on weekends is great to watch riding competitions or even just practices. I just celebrated my sons 4th birthday in one of the conference rooms in the main building. My party was originally scheduled for an outside picnic area at Plantation Woods and the day before the party the weather changed to 90% rain. I called Volunteer Park the morning of the party in a panic and spoke with Mike M. Mike was beyond accommodating in helping us get a conference room booked for our now indoor party. Mike and his other staff member were very professional and friendly. They knew that my stress level was at an all time high because I was trying to change venues and also deal with pouring rain to make it happen. I love all of the Plantation parks and recreation areas. I use Plantation for most of my events and for their playgrounds and walking trails. Great park for the kids. Haven't ventured around this massive park to see what other perks it has but from what I hear, it's amazing.

BUT if you have you kids... this is the park to go to! One large area has 5 different jungle gym set ups, good for toddlers up to early teens. Things to climb, slides, swings, you name it.
