Visiting Bunker Hill is a deeply enriching and historical experience. Located in Charlestown, Boston, the site is home to the Bunker Hill Monument, which commemorates the Battle of Bunker Hill, one of the first major battles of the American Revolutionary War. The monument itself is an impressive granite obelisk that offers a rewarding climb to the top, where visitors are treated to panoramic views of the city. The climb, though somewhat challenging with its 294 steps, is well worth the effort for the breathtaking vista it provides. Adjacent to the monument is the Bunker Hill Museum, which offers a wealth of information about the battle and its significance. The exhibits are well-curated, providing insightful context through artifacts, maps, and interactive displays. The grounds surrounding the monument are beautifully maintained, providing a serene space for reflection and relaxation. The atmosphere is both solemn and inspiring, making it a fitting tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought in the battle. Overall, Bunker Hill is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone interested in American heritage. The combination of educational exhibits, stunning views, and a profound sense of history makes it a memorable and impactful destination.

This is a beautiful 81 foot tall granite monument that was built in 1889 to memorialize the voyagers/Pilgrims of the Mayflower who were in pursuit of starting their own colony in a new country. There is no charge to visit this monument. There is parking available, but if visiting Plymouth downtown, it is an easy walk. Not too far from Plymouth Rock.

Do you want to know what the solid foundation was that built America? Do you want to know how to fix all the problems in America? This is the place to go. It is a huge statue outlining the Five pillars of America's Greatness. The Five pillars are being disregarded or done away with completely by our Government and Americas People! What made out nation great was: First, a Faith in God Jehovah (Yes the God of Abraham) and God's truth revealed in the Bible. Second, Morality based on the Bible...not something that we all just agree on! Third, Education based on the Bible teaching our Children about what God is like and how we should treat ourselves and each other. Fourth, Law as we derive it from what the Bible teaches us. Civil Law founded on Biblical principles alone! You will not be able to have a society that was as great as America was without it's people being first changed inside of themselves by Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. This supernatural change will influence the outer behaviour towards others. That makes Civil Law work and a nation great. Finally the Fifth and last great tenet of our Republic is Liberty! Freedom from a dictator or government that would do away with our documented freedoms (the Constitution and the rights it represents) and take complete control over our beliefs, trade, taxation, free movement, self defense etc. etc. you keep adding to this list as more freedoms are taken away. If we as a people loose sight of what we originally based our freedoms on we will succumb to a dictatorial government controlled by a single personality and worshiped by younger ill informed mindless generations who know nothing of their past but will rue their future. The pilgrims risked everything to come to America. They were sure to be killed in England just because they rejected the English Monarchs religion. They trusted God to bring them to a place where they could read the Bible in freedom and teach their children the truth. America is great and this monument gives hope for a way back but also a warning...is there a new world to go to for modern pilgrims when this great land rejects God and those who...

Beautiful monument, but A LOT (I counted five) of off leash dogs. It isn’t enough to tell people they must leash dogs. This needs to be enforced. Common courtesy isn’t respected anymore, so there need to be fines for people rude enough to treat a national monument like their own back yard. Who looses dogs at historic sites?!The signage is clear.

The names of those aboard the Mayflower are listed.

There is a ramp up the hill, so this is fully accessible. Plenty of parking along the loop around the hill.

There’s a nest atop the statue. I wonder how long it’s been there, because a quick google search said that six years ago an osprey who nested there.

Once the dogs left with their respective owners I hobbled up for a Quick Look (almost left without seeing it at all due to being fragile and people not leashing their dogs).

“Faith” sits above all. She is surrounded by: Morality, Law, Education, and Liberty.”

Each seated embodiment of those principles has companions: morality (prophet and evangelist), law (mercy and justice), education (wisdom and youth), liberty (tyranny, peace).

Then there is a quote from...
