We arrived at this restaurant and took advantage of the valet parking. Being from out of town, we did not know there was a second East Bay Grille location IN Plymouth. We were told to meet our friends at the East Bay Grille in Plymouth, so we came to this one with a reservation for outdoor seating.
When we approached the front desk, the two hosts greeted us with chilly attitudes. When we told them we had a reservation for outdoor seating, they told us they didn't handle that and we'd have to go check with the outdoor host stand. The entire lobby area was extremely crowded and with a toddler in tow and four adults, we made our way outside with some difficulty.
Once outside, the outside hosts were also NOT helpful. "We don't take reservations for outdoors," the first one said, looking bored. In our confusion, we asked why our friend told them they had made one for outdoors. They shrugged unhelpfully and stared at us as we struggled with our toddler. "Maybe ask the front." But the front sent us out here....
As we texted with our friend, we finally figured out the situation. They were at the other East Bay Grille location, about fifteen minutes away.
We made our way back to the front and had to get our car out of valet. The young man at the valet stand looked annoyed at us, then handed us our key and pointed at where he parked our car. I guess expecting him to bring it around front was out of the question, since he didn't even budge to do it. Ok fine, then no need to tip, I guess.
When we went to where our car was, we found it parked SO tightly in the space that we couldn't get our toddler into his car seat. We had to partially move the car (blocking other traffic as we did this) to load in our toddler, and then leave.
Overall, even though we didn't stay for the food, it was a really negative experience. The valet and front of house staff did not seem interested in providing ANY level of service or help to us. How did they not even know there was another location in Plymouth that maybe took outdoor reservations? It's not even like they were busy, though the place was crowded. When we spoke to both the front and the outdoor hosts, they were not doing anything but standing around. And it wasn't just that they were unhelpful, but the dismissive and rude attitude with which they shrugged us off was just very off-putting.
Based on that alone, I would never return here. We did end up going to the other East Bay Grille. The food there was decent but the service was...
Read moreWent here Friday 1/24/20. We are new to the area and had a gift card and were looking forward to dining here. We called to get a reservation earlier in the day and they said they were booked until 7:00pm, which was later than we wanted but was fine. We showed up early at 6:20 to have a couple drinks at the bar before dinner. We checked in with the hostess upon arrival and she offered to seat us right away as they were not busy. Not sure why we could not get a reservation earlier than 7:00 when we called, but the earlier seating was great. We were seated and it took at least 10 minutes for the waitress to show up and acknowledge and to take a drink order. No recognition of the fact we waited this long to even be acknowledged. They had a porterhouse steak special for $42 that sounded great. I ordered it medium rare. The steak arrived and it was very thin but was decent size. I tried to cut in to the top loin side and had to really work at it to even get a piece cut. It was not medium rare and it was very chewy and I could not even cut more than 3 bites off it due to the toughness. The filet side was more tender but was still not medium rare and this steak was not even close to a $42 cut of meat. When the waitress finally checked in to se how the dinner was, we were basically done eating. She asked if I wanted to wrap it up to go. I let her know it was very tough and did not want it to go as it was not even edible and could not even be cut ( I am not even exaggerating here either). She asked if I wanted anything else but my wife was done eating and I was already disappointed and did not want to wait for another meal. No apology or even a care at all. I doubt she even let the chef know, as she was not really interested in customer service. No discount even offered on a basically uneaten steak. I wanted to love this place, as I thought it would be a great place to come back to in the summer. My wife’s seafood dish was very good but I do not recommend ordering any beef product, at least not the porterhouse. Cheap cut and very overpriced., especially for the special beef dish of the night. Overpriced and poor service. Lots of other better choices in...
Read moreI can't say enough about East Bay Grille; especially this time of year (summer). It starts with complimentary valet parking. Then there's your choice of seating: the lively but quaint dining room, the big rectangle bar with some standing room spots, and small booths. Then during good weather, there's the outside patio with plenty of tables & chairs, or the full service outside bar, which has lots of stools, and some giant couches on the perimeter. The fencing and hedges keep the outside feeling like a private beach or country club, but the view of Plymouth Harbor is unobstructed. The staff is quick and attentive. The bathrooms are just big enough and they're kept pretty tidy. The menu is huge with classic favorites and there's always daily specials. Check it out online. The decor is classic style with a hint of a nautical feel. Even though the place is huge, it fills up fast, so expect a wait for a table during peak dinner times or during great weather. The drinks are generous and the bartenders are very capable. They'll make all the popular cocktails, or they'll craft one based on your mood or favorite base liquor. There's plenty of standard domestic or craft beers to choose from, or the usual imports. The food is always hot and the portions are very fair for the price. There's all manner of surf&turf choices, plus some Italian themed items, and some good old fashioned comfort food. The menu price ranges from $7-8+ apps to gourmet Entrees in the mid teen$ to the high $30's. I have been to East Bay two dozen times or more, and I've never left hungry or disappointed. You won't be either. There are a lot of great choices on the Plymouth Waterfront, but I always seem to end up at the...
