Dog friendly beach! This beach is exactly what I've been looking for after living in Plymouth for years. It's not on any list of places to go swimming with your dog in the area, for some strange reason. It's a natural, open area with a rocky pebble sand beach. There's plenty of room for your dog to go to the bathroom before getting oceanside. Kids and dogs can share the area easily. There's a splash pad section that kids can run through where dogs aren't allowed - I completely understand even though my dog would love going in there too to play with the water. There's also a playground with equipment on the far side of the park near the splash pad and a concession stand that's open. I haven't tried it yet. The only negative is the parking situation, which has been covered in other reviews. This beach would be 5* from me except for the lack of parking, especially handicap spots. I'm disabled and there are only 2 designated handicap parking spots for the whole beach. I'm able to walk short distances but I'd avoid this beach in a wheelchair or using my walker due to the terrain and difficulty with parking. Luckily, my husband/caretaker can drop me off but it is a problem for everyone, especially the disabled. Tips for coming with your dog: Always carry your dog's tags with you, even if you don't want them attached to his/her collar when swimming. Only allow your dog off-leash if he/she is trained and reliable with recall (a/k/a comes to you when you call). Our shiba inu loves to swim but doesn't come when called, so we bought a cat leash to attach to her collar when swimming. When she won't come, we have some way of getting to her. There are "swim at your own risk" signs. It's the ocean and there's no lifeguard. Bring floating toys or balls that your dog can handle when swimming. There aren't many naturally-occurring toys like sticks around so you may want to bring your own. I recommend bringing chairs to sit in instead of towels to lay on due to the terrain. Also, for the same reason, I recommend using water shoes with a decent sole (e.g. Teva sandals). Bring fresh drinking water for your dog, who might swallow salt water when excited and playful. They might throw up or have diarrhea if they swallow too much of it, so keep an eye on that. Give your pup breaks when swimming to check in. Many water-loving dogs won't stop even though they're tired! You may wish to use a dog life jacket. I hope you enjoy...

Great for kids from toddler to 9yrs old. Can have lots of fun playing tag, spinning on a two level spinning sphere. They did a great job with making a younger child section to create a safer environment for the little guys. The splash pad was fantastic when first built but needs to be fixed up a bit. All in all I've had fun here w my child while she's been 2yrs old till now 8yrs old. 6 years of good times. Also provides two great open grass areas and tends to be well maintained! Lastly they do have a snack bar and refreshments for the kiddos as well during the summer season! Hope you can experience a beautiful view of the ocean and enjoy your time at Nelson Park Plymouth MA 02360! God...

This park is hands-down the best part you will ever go to in your life. Where can you go to a park where there is a sprinkler system on the beautiful Waterfront ocean of Plymouth. There is so much to do here. The park is so safe for children of all ages. They have so much at this park that it is a whole day trip. Also connecting to Nelson Park is Grace's Trail. If you do not know what Grace is Trail is Google it's a wonderful walk to Nelson Park. Also to the moms and dads and grandparents aunties and uncles there is a restroom there and there is food there they couldn't have built this park any better hands down the best part I have...

This was the sweetest trail to do together as a family. We all got to share things we are grateful for, and were surprised by the answers our kids shared using the other prompts. SAVE this and go give it a try! 📍Nelson Memorial Park (Grace Trail begins here) 255 Water St, Plymouth, MA 🅿️ there is a decent sized parking lot, and no sticker is required to park there, but it does fill up during the summer months. 💻 gracetrail.com Grace Trail: Gratitude, Release, Acceptance, Challenge, Embrace 🥾From the parking area you have access to paved walking trail with direct link to the Holmes Reservation and North Plymouth Rail Trail. 🚻 there are restrooms near the playground, but they are only seasonal and weren’t unlocked when we were there. 🐶 leashed dogs are welcome on the trail and on the grassy area of the Park 🛝Nelson Memorial Park has a beachfront playground with picnic tables, benches and a large grassy area. There’s a small sandy beach, plus launch ramp for canoes and kayaks, and a seasonal splash pad as well. 🍦B’s ice cream is a few minutes down the road in The Shoppes at Village Landing (opposite Hotel 1620, with the epic indoor splash pad - see my previous reel if you want to know more about that!) #gracetrail #plymouthma #plymouthharbor #northplymouthrailtrail #gratitudepractice

Great inclusive playground for all ages and abilities. A little hard to get to, especially in the summer, and regular parking was full when we went on a chilly day in November, even that late in the season the park is so popular that people had started participating in the "make your own parking spot anywhere" initiative. 😆 Not to harp on the whole parking thing, but we were a little surprised to find so few handicapped parking spots at a park that caters to kids with disabilities. Besides all that the views were breathtaking and the people were friendly and everyone was very COVID responsible, even the little ones.

This is a terrific gem for the community, with picnic benches and restroom facilities, a small field and playground, a splash pad and a beach. I only give it 4 stars because parking is extremely limited, but it is free, and the beach is very rocky and kind of smelly in a low tide bay water way. So if you're looking for it primarily as a good beach spot, pick somewhere else, but if you have kids who want to see minnows and crabs, and run around with lots of activities, this is an awesome place to be.
