Polish Nail Bar & Boutique — Attraction in Ponchatoula

Well I’ve only been four times but here it goes. Luke did my first set of dip powder. It felt like mountains on my nails short and thick. I wanted matching colors but they put a red on my toes so I had to go with a red on nails. Not satisfied at all. I had picked out a purple color not red. The second time I got gel but they filed my sides way in so that my nails kept bending which caused them to break. The third time I had the shape I liked. She said oh the same shape. I said yes!!! Then she proceeded to shape them completely different filing the side in even more. I had three more bend so bad they broke. I went back for a fix. I got Eddie he did a bad job they looked awful nothing like my other nails at all. Went back to get the gel off two more repairs. They tried to give me Eddie I said no I want a girl cause the guys I had there are not good. I got the Mom. I told her three times I want acrylic on my nails. I told her not to file my sides off anymore, I also tried to explain that the file she was using on my real nails is for fake nails. They are not professional nor do they listen. They don’t give you what you want they do what they want. She did not pay attention she messed up then she had her daughter scream at me from a few chairs down that she had to file my nails, she had already filed my nails then buffed it out because she didn’t listen to what I was telling her. So I screamed back at her daughter saying I’m not an idiot. She already filed it then buffed it out only to the grind it making it weaker for no good reason other than she messed up. So the mom was shaking I felt bad but it was her fault for not listening then having her daughter scream at me from five chairs down. She could barely stop herself from filing off my sides I had to repeatedly tell her no stop. She was shaking so bad I felt really bad. Truth be known they are pretty sloppy with there treatment. The air is broke it was hot as hell in there. They didn’t even offer me a drink. The day I went to get my nails fixed the husband complained to me the entire time that he was tired of this whole business. That his work ethic was not good and he would rather be at home. This attitude shows in the overall treatment of his customers as far as I can tell. He asked me not to come back. I said no worries I wasn’t planning on it. The Big thing in the front they put my nails under had one bulb working out of four. They’re not even aware of that I’m sure. The fan wasn’t even on which they weren’t aware of either. If they can’t do a simple thing like make sure the bulbs are good and flip the fan switch on how in the hell are your nails going to look good???? They won’t!!!! If by some miracle they look good, great for you!!! I doubt they last. Ours did not!!! As a matter of fact my nails are sore from how much she filed them. They are not paying attention to anything period. They SUCK at POLISH NAILS. They can’t even get the polish right much less the nails. Good luck If you go there. She knew she messed up so offered to give me my messed up nails for free. But I said no I’ll pay. I only paid because I felt bad for screaming at her not because the nails were outstanding. Not sure why I felt bad because the daughter hollered at me from five chairs down without knowing what was really going on. The mom knew that’s why she offered a free job. I started going to this nail salon on the recommendation of a family member while my usual nail tech was off for an extended period of time. I have been happy but after today’s experience I don’t plan on returning. I have used the same person each time & tipped very well. I also have not asked for anything special, extra or out of the ordinary. In fact, I am one who enjoys a quick in & out visit rather than a long drawn out pampering of sorts. We have even talked about this on a prior visit. I have always made an appt by calling ahead of time to ensure I could get in & out. Today, I had an appt as usual but waited for 10-15 min. (That wasn’t a problem for me). However, nobody was waiting. The man who checked me in began taking the dip off & had me soak my nails. My nail tech apologized for the wait when she walked up. I told her no problem as I also told the man previously. The problem ensued when she had an attitude that I’ve never seen in her before. She seemed very on edge, quick, unfriendly & was moving in a manner (opening/closing drawers, picking up/sitting down things) with force, just short of slamming. She asked what color & I told her my two thoughts looking for guidance. She seemed irritated. I said a color. She said ok so white and stood up very rudely & went to go get the dip. When she came back I asked was she having a bad day? Not in an ugly way but of concern b/c we all have bad days. But she told me very quickly No, she was actually having a pretty good day. As I sat in uncomfortable silence she eventually asked were we cutting the nails. I answered & she questioned that with a condescending tone. I showed her a picture saying maybe this would help. That was also a problem. She questioned that in more detail. But not questioning what I really meant or wanted as it was very clear & no different than any other time there / with her, but questioned in a condescending tone. She also speaks very good English so that wasn’t the problem. I continued to sit in awkward silence while she was rude until it occurred to me, this was not something I should have to do or wanted to do for another 1.5 hours nor did I want to pay for this much less tip someone behaving this way. I decided if this continued I would tell her I could leave if she didn’t want to do the nails. It continued so i told her & her response was so you want to leave? As I stood up & walked away she spoke to the man at the desk but not in English. He didn’t ask what was wrong, could he help or try to solve the problem so I told him I don’t need this attitude & I’m not doing this & left. The worst nail salon experience of my life. I’m a kind and compassionate person, and I believe solely in the integrity of a business, so I try to refrain myself from leaving ugly reviews. However, the tech that I saw today- did not speak a single word to me from the moment I sat down, until the moment I got up. Did not even ask what I wanted, just started soaking my previous dip powder off. I came in for dip powder on my natural nail. I had a nail that was cracked, that I asked her to fix. She just slapped some new dip powder over it without repairing the crack… so I will most likely be back in a nail salon in a couple of days bc I’m sure it will not hold up. She filed my nails very very aggressively. I could just feel the tension, she seemed to have been angry for some reason. I was treated as just another payee. No care, whatsoever. She put a single top coat, and sent me on my way. Then charged me for the “shape” that I had when I came in. Did not change the shape or get a cut down. Isn’t filing included in the service? If not, then I should have been charged for buffing, polish application, & for the use of their UV lamp, which or all necessities in getting dip powder, is it not? I came here once before & had a good experience so I can only chalk it up to being the nail techs issue, and not the business itself.
