West Marine — Attraction in Port Hueneme

In all fairness, I not only write good reviews but also bad. I give this store 1 star only because it has a good selection of items to browse. However, I rarely buy anything from West Marine any longer. West Marine no longer has a liberal price match policy. Pretty much limited to "sold direct from Amazon only". Not "through" Amazon but "Direct from Amazon". (I am aware of what their price match policy states it is on their website. However, it is confusing to both the customer and to their own employees). WM's prices are usually significantly higher than online. If it is not an emergency, I will order online and wait a day. CUSTOMER SERVICE at this store is virtually NONEXISTENT! I responded to their feedback request and mentioned this fact. I was then called by their manager and discussed my concerns. I was apologized to and told that it would be relayed to their sales associates. I returned several days later and guess what? NO IMPROVEMENT!! I had no less than 3 employees walk right past me and not one even greeted me or asked if they could help. I was standing and staring at the shelf at that time. If you can find someone to ask a question, their knowledge of the products they sell is pretty much limited to what the computer says. No knowledge, expertise or experience. If you are a laborer who works on boats, and need an important part that day to finish a job, this is not the store to go to. Inventory disbursement from the warehouse seems to be calculated by 2 year olds. The employee's claim they can't do anything to change the inventory they'll be sent in which case you have to order it and wait 3 business days minimum... and you have to go back to the store and pick it up. Honestly it seems like a bad joke. But they will have in stock anything overpriced by about 800% so your average buyer pays an arm and a leg for items that are comparatively pennies on the dollar on Amazon. THEY PRICE MATCH AMAZON AND ANY WEBSITE THAT SELLS THE SAME EXACT ITEM ON THE INTERNET, AT LEAST, SO DEFINITELY USE THAT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. Good luck, fellow shoppers,...

I have shopped at this store for years. Grateful to have the store there in town. However lately the store is poorly managed sloppy, out of stock on many items. Today I shopped there and didnt see a bucket they had on the floor. They have little buckets all over the floors I guess to catch rain from a leaky roof?? I didnt see the bucket while shopping. I tripped on a small bucket and was going down. I broke my fall with my arm as it hit a near by counter. It really is throbbing and hurts. I left without finding the part I needed and with a very sore arm....
