This was our first time at the Portage MI location but we have done at least 7 of their rooms at various other locations. From the moment we walked in the door, I knew this was going to be a different experience. The girl at the front desk barely spoke to us, even when we spoke directly to her. We were 2 minutes late and I apologized and let her know we did not mind if she took it off our time. She just looked at me and never said anything back. We even asked about utilizing the advertised special to purchase a second game and were told it did not apply to us because our game was too late. I normally love to give you guys my money, but honestly if you don't want it and prefer to treat customers like this, I will go elsewhere. As usual with Escapology, we loved the puzzles. The biggest issue with the room was how many Red Herrings it had. I will refrain from providing details to keep it private but there were more than 20 things that had nothing to do with anything. When we completed the room, we were actually unsure that we had actually finished it because it seemed like there was "so much more to do" with all the extra stuff. When we finished, the girl that came to the door told us we could go take a picture if we could find someone to take it. We walked back to the lobby and the receptionist was still there, but did not say a word to us and did not offer to take a photo, so we found a random person outside to come in and take one for us. Read moreWe were so excited to try the Scooby Doo room for my girlfriend’s birthday, and our experience was so frustrating. One of the first puzzles didn’t work and we tried it multiple times the correct way and had to ask for a hint to get it to drop the clue. In the next room, a puzzle had been put together so we took it apart and put it in the original spots and when we asked for another hint, she told us to put it together and when we told her it had already been done, she only added 2 extra minutes. We were already frustrated when we started on the third puzzle and when we finally gave up and asked for a clue, she told us the correct way, which is what we had been doing for AT LEAST 10 minutes. We told her we tried it multiple times, at which point she released the next hint. By then, we had wasted the majority of our time working on a puzzle we had already solved and had no time to finish the rest of the puzzles. I would understand if only one puzzle were faulty, but the fact that it happened so many times and our game master didn’t seem to be watching us or know what we had already completed was ridiculous. Read moreWe are a family of 4 and have done 50+ rooms all around Michigan. We traveled almost 2 hours to get here because we had such a great experience at the location in Lansing. We booked 2 rooms to do back to back ,the first room we did seemed to be missing puzzles there was so many things that just had no purpose. After we finished ,the game master came in told us we escaped and told us how to get to the exit for the building, never asked us if we wanted to have a picture . The second room was even worse we asked for hints and they just told us exactly how to solve the puzzle we were trying to solve.after putting in the last code in the final room the game master came in and asked us if we put the final code in. And told us we were free to go and she just walked out of the room. The staff were unwelcoming and seemed to hate their jobs. We usual will come back and do 2 rooms every visit until we finish at the location but our experience was horrible and we will not...
