THEY WILL PROFILE YOU FOR STEALING I was SUPER excited because I had somehow managed to scrape together a few hundred dollars. When you can barely make rent some months-this was a huge deal. I was singing the whole way there, the anticipation of seeing all those beautiful track suitsā¦hoping they had some fun Originals in my size. And they did! I made my way around the store and I was about to hit the fitting rooms when I remembered that I ALWAYS forget to check the section right to the left of the registers towards the door and often miss something I would have loved. So I move towards that section when an employee steps in front of me and asks if I want a bag. I tell her itās ok, that Iām about to go to the fitting rooms and she spreads both her arms out wide as if sheās blocking me, and says āthe fitting rooms are over thereā. I said I knew that, I just wanted to peek at this last section and she said āYour behavior is REALLY suspicious.ā Until then I really thought she was just being nice because that I was shoplifting was so far from my thought process but at that moment it was obvious what was going on. The tears started to well up my eyes, I could feel the panic start, and I asked her āare you accusing me of stealing?ā. And she repeated that I was acting really weird.
This is what gets me. I was walking around a clothing store with clothes in my hand. Thatās it. I didnāt want to shove them in the bag because I was just going to hang them in the fitting room. But how is that suspicious. If you donāt want people by the door-DONT PUT CLOTHES BY THE DOOR. I was in full blown panic at this point and fled to the fitting roomās humiliated. I tried to calm myself down as I tried on my clothes. It took a little while because Iām both Autistic and have Generalized Anxiety Disorder but when I came out I was calm and walked towards my husband.
Unfortunately, I was intercepted by a gentleman who Iām guessing was some kind of manager. He said very condescendingly, āMamn, I just want to follow-upāā¦and the way he was talking down to me immediately started the panic and the tears again and as he continued I could hear that he was, again, going to justify his employeeās behavior, and tell me that I was being suspicious. It was so unbelievable to me that I was once again being publicly accused of being suspicious despite my obvious tears. So I said I really donāt want to hear this. And started to walk away and he said āthen you can leaveā. My husband at that point said āare you serious?ā. And the gentleman said the reason he was kicking us out-though we were ready to pay and go-was because I had interrupted him and didnāt hear him out.
I am a 48 year old mother of two. This man was half my age and talking to me like I was a 4 year old that had gotten caught with her hand in the cookie jar. I have never seen such an...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI received an employee store pass as part of the Willamette Week Give Guide holiday promotion. This is by far the smallest of the big three employee stores in the area in terms of physical footprint (Nike and Columbia being the others). However, its usefulness is dependent on your wardrobe and activity preferences.
I'm a pretty active person who regularly plays several sports, and I think Adidas makes the best versions of several pieces of athletic gear, including soccer cleats, underwear, shorts, and compression leggings. Combined with the fact that the Adidas pieces I like tend to not go on sale as often (or as deeply) as stuff from the other brands, it's actually kind of a big deal to get in here for me.
Everything has its retail price tagging, so you're left to do the 50% discount math yourself. Also, you have to watch out for items that are excluded. For this visit, it was mostly World Cup 2018 gear, including official game balls and Germany national team kits. But they have pretty prominent signage telling you of those few exclusions.
I had to wait in line outside for about 15 minutes on the last Saturday of the year. My pass (and, I assume many others) expired three days later, so I'm guessing I picked a pretty busy day. They had tents to cover people in line, which was a nice touch, but dress accordingly for the weather. They let people from the line in as others left, which was a great idea since the store is relatively small. They had all their registers open, so while the checkout line was lengthy, it didn't take long to get up front. I talked to several associates to ask questions, and all were very friendly and helpful, even in the crush of an extremely busy store.
If you regularly check the Adidas site and major retailers for sales, the 50% off retail won't be a huge deal for some items, but the ability to get mainstays that rarely go on significant discount (socks and underwear) and all the newest gear is more than worth the trip for me. If you're more on the fashion side, it may be even...
