Blossom and Beauty had great customer service, was very responsive, and was so kind when our previous HMUA scammed us a month before my daughter's wedding. They went above and beyond to get us on-site stylists and to schedule a trial in a short period so that my daughter could feel her best on her wedding day. Everyone else looked great. My daughter was breathtaking (she's beautiful to begin with, but the make up and hair was amazing).
But this is a one-star review because I am so embarrassed by how bad my hair looked. I'm just mortified at the pictures. I hate to be a drama queen, but I cried out of the sheer embarrassment. My hair style was a greasy ponytail, not the elegant up-do that I wanted (see photo). But when Catelyn was finished, there was no time to redo it. It was time for my daughter, the bride, to have her hair and make up done and I didn't want to take any of her time away. It was her special day, and that mattered more. After hair and make up there were pictures scheduled and other things that led right up to the ceremony so I could't take any more time to have it corrected. If it had been done even remotely right (or even similar to the picture) the first time, it wouldn't have been necessary to even worry about having time to re-do it.
My hair was sloppy and disgusting. I can't say Catelyn was skilled or careful, or that she can recreate a photo up-do. Just once I wanted to be all girly and all dressed up and pretty, but my hair was just plain gross. It looked like I had just come out of the gym after a run and slicked the sides back. Totally humiliating to look like that as the Mother of the Bride.
Update: After I posted the original review, Blossom & Beauty called my daughter about it. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish by calling her to complain that I had left a bad review. She has nothing to do with it. I had chosen not to share how upset I was with my daughter, because I didn't want my personal feelings about the stylist to diminish her good feelings about her wedding day, but Blossom & Beauty took care of that.
Blossom & Beauty, you got a one-star review because you were great about scheduling, but the other four stars you don't get is what your stylist earned for you. Caitlyn did such a poor job she didn't even cover the pony tail elastic she used - it's the focal point of my hair, right there on the back of the crown. Nice black stretchy. Reallllly elegant. So classy. Nothing AT ALL like what I requested, and I have PLENTY of hair to work with.
There wasn't time on the wedding day, with all the other things that needed to happen on schedule (like photos, ceremony, etc.) for the stylist to tear it all down and start from scratch, but that's what was needed.
Now that the photographer's high resolution photos have been sent to us, I am even more mortified. It's humiliating. My hair looks better than this after six grueling uphill miles on the treadmill. I asked for, and showed a picture of, an elegant updo (photos provided). I got a greasy bell-shaped ponytail with the f'ing ELASTIC SHOWING. My bangs weren't cohesive at all and they drooped within minutes and stuck to my face. I'm so glad I did my own make up. Who knows how that would have turned out.
Blossom & Beauty gets one bad review for this; but I get bad pictures and a reminder of my hair looking like a greasy rat at my daughter's wedding forever. Yay, me. I very much regret tipping the stylist, but I was being kind - certainly kinder than she was to me. Was she trying to do a bad job? I don't know. Considering that my daughter's hair was beautiful and we had the same stylist (Caitlyn), I can only think that Caitlyn just didn't bother doing a decent job on me. Like I wasn't worth the effort.
If you are a middle-aged woman who wants to look beautiful for just one day of your life as a Mother of the Bride, I suggest you roll the...
Read moreI had high expectations for Blossom and Beauty based on all the great reviews I read online, however I was pretty disappointed overall with my experience. I am giving 2 stars only because communication with Jasmine was decent.
I got married a couple of weekends ago and my makeup artist was Vicky. I did not feel like my bridal makeup and hair trial went well at all. I had sent her inspo pictures the days leading up to the trial and she was very confident that I would love how everything would turn out. When the trial was over, I looked in the mirror for the very first time and I didn't feel "wow" initially, however I thought I had to go home and take it all in/look at the big picture. I went home and realized I was not happy at all with my makeup or hair; I did not feel like it looked even close to the pictures I sent her. In particular, my foundation was cakey, and there was a lot of eyeshadow powder on my lashes, which made the entire look very dirty/messy. I thought the point of the trial was to look somewhat close to how I would look on the day of my wedding so I was surprised there was no attention to detail there. Something I wish she did was sit me in front of a mirror (I was sitting in a chair facing her door/hallway when she did my makeup), or allow me to periodically look at the progress so that I could give some input on what I do/do not like. This was something I wish I knew before or that she had offered. I texted Vicky after my trial with some more pictures and tips that I thought would look better, and she agreed.
On my wedding day, Vicky started with my MOH's hair and makeup and did well. When it was my turn, she did my makeup well, but I was extremely disappointed in my hair. The picture that I had shown her at the trial and also that morning was a low bun with volume throughout (honestly seemed pretty simple to me). I had looked at my hair progress in the mirror halfway and asked her to add more volume to the bun, however she stated that she didn't want to do it that way because she wanted the bun to hold for the entire day. I then pulled up the picture again and told her that I really wanted it to look that way. Again, she refused to change the shape of the bun. My MOH even suggested that she would help me touch up my hair throughout the day if that was what Vicky was worried about. Vicky disregarded that comment and at that point I realized she would not listen to what I wanted, so I let her finish my hairstyle how SHE wanted. When she was done, I immediately went into the bathroom so that I could look at the final look and was extremely, extremely upset. I ended up taking out the bun she did and had my MOH (who does not have any background in beauty) re-do my hair in less than 10 minutes, exactly how I wanted. I was fortunate that Vicky ended the make-up/hair earlier than expected or else I would have ran out of time to re-do my hair. My new hairstyle held up with NO touchups for 14+ hours.
I did not feel my experience was worth the $600+ price and it was truly my one and only regret for my wedding. My wedding was an extremely important day (as it is for the majority of people), and I did not feel confident going into my wedding at all with how I looked. As the bride, I felt like Vicky should have listened to what I wanted as I was paying a lot of money for a service that was extremely important to me that day. I know how to do my own makeup and hair but thought it would be nice to be "pampered" and have the opportunity to just sit and relax. Overall, just truly...
Read moreFinding a good make-up artist and hair stylist for my wedding came so easy with Blossom & Beauty. They are super talented with what they do and know how to pamper you and make you feel like a princess (actually QUEEN) for your big day! I was referred to this business through my photographer, and she specifically told me to request for Jasmine, the owner, right away. I looked on the Blossom & Beauty website for information, artist info, and used their easy inquiry form on their website to request the services I was looking for. What’s so amazing about this place is they come to YOU on your wedding day. My wedding took place at the Oregon Golf Club and it was such a relief to know that all my girls and I had to do was show up. It was also wonderful to not have to book separate hair and make-up artists but to have professionals who are wonderful at doing both. Blossom & Beauty has that talent!
I was connected with their logistics coordinator right away, who was very friendly and thorough with the entire booking process. A few e-mails back and forth and I had my date booked for myself and my entire bridal squad. It was such an easy process and they remained flexible and accommodating as I added more gals that needed services done on the big day. Blossom & Beauty has many talented artists, and they made sure to honor my request and get me booked with Jasmine.
We scheduled my engagement photoshoot to take place in October over at their downtown studio. What a great studio location with amazing lighting! It was easy to find and access. I met Jasmine who is such a cute gal is also super sweet. I had shown her photos of the look I was going for in terms of hair and make-up, and she was able to replicate exactly what I wanted. She does a great job at giving you options on different colors and make-up brands to choose from, but I trusted her completely with everything. My fiance (at the time) loved the look and we felt so good about what to expect for the wedding day. Jasmine also made me fall in love with using individual lashes, so that’s now my go-to when I’m trying to doll myself up a little more for date nights.
A few months pass and Jasmine and I meet again for my wedding day trial run. I show her photos of what I’m looking for and again, she’s able to replicate the exact look I want. Of course it looks MUCH better in person! Her excitement and passion for what she does just shines through her work and personality.
The day of the wedding finally comes, and I’m excited for my bridesmaids to finally meet this amazing hair and make-up artist I have been hyping up. They instantly fall in love with her too! She just has that effect on people :) Jasmine also had a second stylist assisting that day, Erin, who was just as amazing and did such an incredible job with all my gals. Jasmine and Erin showed up early to the Oregon Golf Club get ready suite and were ready to tackle the busy day. Their calm demeanor and presence just helped all of us girls, especially myself, remain relaxed throughout the day. We had such a fun time talking to them and the end result of each gal was so fun to see. My mom decided to get her make-up done at the last minute and she really loved the look! Everyone felt and looked so beautiful!
If you’re looking for someone who not only is amazing at hair and make-up, but is genuine, passionate, and reliable— please go with Blossom & Beauty! I look forward to being able to get my hair and make-up done with them again for future events! Thank you so much,...
