Gateway - NE 99th Ave TC Park & Ride — Local services in Portland

This transit center is vital in my commute, also directly across the street is Fred Meyer supermarket, a huge convenience as well. There's a Ross Dept Store next door & if you walk through the store, or around it outside, there's a Winco Grocery store across the street. The transit center serves green line to PSU or Clackamas, the red line to the Airport or Beaverton/City Center & the blue line to Gresham or Hillsboro, plus multiple buses all over metro area, directly in front of transit center is large two-story brick building housing The Oregon Clinic, where you can wait for an Uber or Lyft ride. Park 'n Ride lot located here as well, along with refreshment stand open during weekdays only, no public restroom. Lots of TriMet staff on hand most of the time, who are always eager to help if you have questions & always friendly. Quite a rough element hanging around this location, be wise not to flash your wallet or cigarettes because you will be pestered with requests for both. Fairly common to see homeless people hanging about, as the pedestrian paved area comes up to the back of transit center. Gateway Transit Center is the main transit center in the East metro area. It is located near the juncture of I-84 and I-205. As well as serving the Gateway Shopping Center The Blue Line Max covers Gresham/City Center/Hillsboro; Green line covers Clackamas/City Center; Red line covers Airport/City Center/Beaverton. Also a major bus hub. Approximately 10+ bus lines stop here or nearby. The reason for only 3 stars is that there as a punishingly inadequate amount of seating and shelter for a transit center of this size. Especially since it is VERY exposed to the elements. The bus stops have no shelter or seating whatsoever. Maybe time for a solution TriMet? It is quite common for the max lines-especially coming from downtown Portland/west side-to get behind schedule. A wait for a max is usually no longer than 15 min but can be up to half an hour, and bus can be up to an hour. Just a...

Just a heads up the "park and ride" aspect of this location fills up during the weekdays RANDOMLY between 7:25am and 7:45am...the number of times I've been screwed for getting to work due to this location and this is starting to affect my jobwork.

That being said, it being right next to Fred Meyers is helpful in one hand but it does draw a certain crowd that tends to make waiting here difficult for anything other than daylight work days.

More parking, or a readerboard stating the number of spots left. (and more parking since there are so many Vancouver, WA commenters coming into town)

Better security presence and communication with local authorities. The number of RV street campers nearby affects this.
